What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Three very nice Barlows.

It's pouring down rain and I'm heading out to work, so I can't take any pretty pics today... But here are my Boker barlows. :D

The curly birch and bog oak on the bottom are new additions. I might have to snag that Micarta exclusive from across the pond here soon too! Boker Solingen makes a GREAT barlow.

The weather is still gross, but at least there's some light today. The 440C/Micarta/brass Boker barlow I ordered should arrive in the next day or two too. :)

From top to bottom:
Bog Oak and C75 steel
Curly Birch and 440C steel
Grenadil (African Blackwood) and 440C steel
Oak (reclaimed from Berg Castle) and O1 steel

Finally got it! This knife is awesome. Right out of the box the action was terrible, a little oil and some cleaning and now the action is perfect. The tip is as close to being proud as it can be without actually being proud, but I think there is room to file the kick if the tip actually becomes proud after a few sharpenings. Very sharp right now so I don’t think that will be necessary for some time. Very pleased!
