New cover story today...

These Walnut covers look gorgeous. I'm really looking forward to this and the African Blackwood! :)

I've never been much of a Barlow fan, but this pic put me over the edge! I gotta have one! Don't change your mind, burnside!

Todd,

This thread and viewing the Charlow in so many pics, along with the commentaries and reviews here, made me fall in love with the Barlow - I've had mine for almost 3 weeks now and LOVE IT - single blade spearpoint in red bone here :)

Yes, there's a Barlow in my pocket!

Wow, that blackwood is gorgeous. I take back what I thought, it's not so similar to the ebony after all.

I just saw a picture of a closed Sheepsfoot and I think I'll have to pass on this run of TC's and keep looking for some spear blades. While open, the knife looks cool, but as short of a knife as this is, it looks very wide when closed and on its side...

I hear what you're saying. I could see how it might be an issue with the 2 blade version when using the smaller pen blade, but because of it's shorter length, I don't think it will make much of a difference. The 74 trapper has a very wide wharncliffe blade when closed, and I found it to be cumbersome when in use, but I don't think it will matter as much on the shorter frame of the TC Barlow. I thought the 2 blade clip Charlow would be an issue with the wide clip blade when using the pen blade, but I found no discomfort with it when in hand like I did with wharncliffe blade on the #74. That being said, I think I feel more of a attraction towards the single blade version of the sheepsfoot Charlow.

I also think it will sit just as flat as the other Charlows sit in the pocket when carried (especially if we are talking about the single bladed Charlows).

If your concern is purely aesthetic then I would agree that you should keep questing for the 2 bladed spearpoint Charlow. (I'll shoot you a PM if anything comes up).

is it just me or does anyone else find the choice of African blackwood for a Tom Sawyer barlow to be a little...um...uncomfortable?

Not really. If you want uncomfortable, use Mark Twain's language.

I'm really looking forward to these. The sheepsfoot blade is right up my alley. :D

Howdy Alex!
My friend, I am right there with you Sir, I cant see these knives being anything less than near perfect, I couldn't cope with the Sheepsfoot main, but I am strongly swaying to thinking I could carry one of these, I can tell you now I will be ordering a minimum of 2 in this style of blade - that Walnut is for me - that's for sure!

A person just can't go wrong with any cover choice. I am locked into the Walnut---I love the story/history behind it.
