What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Couple of older barlows...

Remington...bolster and the liner looks to be a single piece...No idea of its age...

Russell...this came with blade mirror finished...with the help of expertise from Primble Primble I was able to remove the mirror finish and 'age' the blade a bit.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Boker made a nice traditional Barlow, with very rounded bolsters. I think they have a nice bolster stamp.
They made those Primble Barlows above for Belknap too, as indicated by a star on the back of the tangs.
The Primble Barlows have a bolster similar to the Hartshead Barlows, being flat and beveled. At least similar to my eye.

I don't know Charlie. Looks to me like it could be a rock with facial features or worlds smallest petrified early man skull, next to worlds smallest Barlow. 😲
Of course, my views are many times slanted out of the ordinary ! 🤣

My spearpoint version of the Boker Barlow seems a little older than my clip version. The bolster seems rounder. Maybe it is older and maybe not. Somebody carried it a lot !
