What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Added a Camillus 10 long line Barlow this week, goes along with the Camillus 50 I already had. The 10 is larger and beefier than the 50, these are probably early long lines as they are in bone, most of the long lines are delrin.

Let me rephrase that: "That is quite the handsome affair; I'm liking that bone." Those lines made it look like grain to me the first time around. But any way you look at it it is a handsome knife.
I wasn't sure at first either!! I had to take a second, and a third ('though pleasurable!) look!!

One I've been after a long time, over 5 years since I saw the last one in good condition. A Russell straight line curved frame castrating or veterinarians barlow. I just love the curve to the frame. The comparison shot showing it with another Russell of the same vintage clearly shows a little nugget of Russell history, they cranked out a lot of barlows and they would use the bolster stamp until it was worn out, you can see that is these 2 examples.
Charlie, this one would made a great Ancient Barlow.

A couple of Great Knives in Great Shape, John!!! Very full blades on both of them!!!
It took me years to find these two!! The best kind of search, when you find what you are striving for!!Russell Comp 5.jpg

My oh my what a fantastic find John. Only ones I've ever seen are Charlie's and yours. Congratulations on the acquisition.
