What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Nice to have a few Barlows along! Just in case!!
I like that multi-pouch/roll that you conjured up, ~P. A nice, thick cleaning cloth and a few stitches, no?

Wow ~ P, you've got it bad. Not only are you one of the few women interested in knives, you might also be the only one I've known who can sharpen them.

Absolutely! One never knows when one might have need, or meet (or create!) an aficionado. ;)

Thank you, and yes-- a chamois cloth with rudimentary stitching.

(I've since decided *not* to place two knives up top in the horizontal, fold-down area-- it's too easy to forget they're there, and flip them out when unfolding the roll. As Charlie witnessed first-hand.)

Very basic stitchery (bookbinding thread, I believe?):

Knife Knuts Rock My World!!! ;)

You rocked my world, Sheila!:D
Perhaps some of you recall that I was whining a bit, when I inadvertently sold my LAST Gabon Ebony Single Clip blade. It rendered my archive of the Great Barlow Run*, incomplete!
But what should show up in the mail but this!!
TCSheilaReturn1_zps6390ca20.jpg

I am ever grateful! It is a big deal to give up part of a collection, as I am sure you all will agree! The archive is complete, thanks to Ms. SHEBOP's generosity!
Thank You, Sheila!

*Now over the halfway mark - tell your wallets the good news!

You Rock, Barlie Charlow!!!
You, my Friend, have spread so much Joy to so many!!!
Thank You for being You!!!
I love you heaps and piles, Sweetie!!! ;)

Nice move Shebop :)

Having another Barlow day with this lovely which Seth sent me the other week :)

So when can I expect the Spey barlows to come out...Most excited for those. Hoping for smooth ivory bone. Charlie, has sawcut blue bone ever been considered?

Here's a funny story, albeit one that only knife nuts would understand.

Last night when I got home I was about to open the mail when I realized that I didn't have a knife on me or within easy reach. I asked my daughter to get my Charlow off the coffee table where I had left it the night before.

"Is this it Daddy? The sharp one?"

Harrumph! "Excuse me little girl. All my knives are sharp."

"Okay Daddy, whatever you say," she replied as she walked away with a  look on her face.

Where in the world did my sweet little girl learn to roll her eyes at her beloved father?

Cute story Christian :)

Here's my Gunstock Charlow as it sits now, ready to be put into regular action...my new watch pocket knife :D

I never had a single blade Barlow till I got the single spear blade, Didn't know what I was missing out on, they sure are handy lil' buggers.

Nice knife and like the walnut. How do you like the sheepsfoot blade?

Very nice Duane

I took my Charlow along to Sheffield's Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet the other day - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abbeydale_Industrial_Hamlet - a steel and scythe-making works dating back to at least the 13th Century. I'll try and get some pics up soon. In the meantime, here's my Charlow in front of the ancient water-powered tilt hammers :)

Yes, a joke. Duane and I have modified a few knives of late, thought I would get a snort out of him!

Forgive me Charlie, for I have sinned...

Once so beautiful...

I'll go stand in the corner now :o :(
I'll keep the blackwood version untouched, or I'm afraid some angry Canadian with a Mickey Mouse hat will fly over here and spank me to death :)

Can you ever forgive me?
