What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Yes, very nice Thieves! I was droolin' over those myself as I sold all I had and regret it.

Thanks Barry and Paul :)

I am extremely happy with them.

Question that has been on my mind for awhile, is the groove in the center of the "soup bone" covers the marrow cavity?

That's a Melrose Cutlery barlow. It has sawcut synthetic covers. According to Levine's guide, these knives are from sometime in the 1920's.

Sawcut? Spearpoint? Long pulls? Yep, this one has all of my hallmarks for a good, traditional Barlow. :D

the holy trinity of barlows

Ha! Now we have a name for it! It's funny how these things just pop up from time to time. I found that one a few days ago while browsing on the bay. I found it with 1 minute left, no bids. $9.99 later and it was mine!
