What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

The pics of these knives are raising my blood pressure! Looking at them makes me feel like I am having a fever dream! :hypnotysed::hypnotysed::hypnotysed::love-struck:

Breathtaking! No words necessary!!
I hope to see mine tonight!!
Thanks everyone, lm speechless Charlie! And thanks to my dealer for supporting my habit. I was running late for work and didn't have time to say a word! This is exactly what I was hoping to get. Here's the other side.

This thread is awesome! love all the new stuff being talked about on here. Too bad most of its gone before I even hear or know about it. :) ;)

Brother Todd, it is difficult for me to find any sympathy for you when you post a photo of a Grail Barlow like this.

Not a expert... but this beauty is still my all time favorite

I'm trying to feel your pain, but it's not happening...

:p

Seriously, I think that's my all time favorite too, and I've only seen pictures! ;)

While I await the arrival of the new TC's, this one is riding with me today:

Thanks again, Mark! Of all the vintage Barlows I own, I think this has the nicest bone of all of them. I love it!

Nice Brian! Is the blade swaged on the pile side to match the mark side? I can't tell from the pictures.

Ha Ha... I know. Sorry. I need to suck it up! I am so blessed to have this one and others that I have let go that were beautiful. Maybe I will be able to acquire one of these newer beauties soon. Thanks for bringing me back to reality gently. :p

Here is my usual EDC. It's a rare rainy day in the Central Valley of California. My soupbone clip-spey is one that probably should have been preserved for a museum. But I could never resist such a knife, and it is now a regular user...

Hoping to see some more photos of the red soupbone as the mail comes in today...

Saw a picture of some of these in the last issue of KnifeWorld, and found out they belonged to someone I knew. He made me an offer I couldn't refuse.
I am now embarking on the research, to find out more about them.
They are truly the ancestors of modern Barlows. So far, I believe none of them is from after 1900, some considerably before.

Hey, Charlie! Have you and GEC considered resurrecting the old scratted bone pattern? (as seen in the top and fourth-from-top knives in this picture)
