What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

John Lloyd has sent you some stag.........for your next TC run!!

I bought it for that, but GEC adheres to its tradition of not putting stag on Tidioutes.
They made an exception for third cut. Maybe they will make an exception for this stuff!!

Fish Bone custom Barlow. I will have the stamping die done in 3-4 weeks. All steel bolsters and liners, 1095 steel blades and backs prings hand made by me

This is no infringement on you Charlie, they are for me and a few friends ;)

I am also making my own bone handles too.

You can put me down in the want to buy column  My Dad and brothers might want one too ;)

Mark--that bolster design is pure awesomeness! Largemouth Bass? lol I'm WTB if they are available.

Charlie: Just explain to Bill that Tidioute and TC Tidioute are actually two different lines. TC Tidioute gets steel bolsters and liners, plus whatever covers Charlie wants! :D That way Bill can stay true to his Tidioute line, and we can get whatever amazing things you spec.

I should be headed down to the post office, but I will get to it tomorrow!

Meantime, it turns out some ancient* Barlows had stag on them! Sort of a contradiction, given the utility/economy mission of the design, but I am sure you will all figure it out in a few seconds!!:)

I though some were bone, but a close look reveals Staggy characteristic!:D

*"ancient" in my grandkids references to there dear old Grandad!:p

Nice Charlie!!!

Be back in a few days - gone to Jackson to "intercept" that soup bone deal. ;);):eek::eek::eek::D

♬ We've been talkin' 'bout Jackson, ever since the fire went out.
I'm goin' to Jackson, I'm gonna mess around,
Yeah, I'm goin' to Jackson,
Look out Jackson town !!! ♬ :D:D:D

Isn't that a Johnny Cash song? Hey Primble, when you get here look me up (I'm a Jacksonian). After that soup bone deal has been intercepted. I'll buy dinner.:D:D:D

Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood. around 1967-68 if I remember correctly. Yes, I think Johnny Cash did a cover of the song, but later on.

Love that Fish Bone Barlow, Mark! That would look right with scratted bone covers, wouldn't it? Like a herringbone pattern.

Can't wait to see them (if only in pictures) :( :D

Primble, that Saddle Brown is something, isn't it? I have one and absolutely love the color. Your Macassar looks exceptional, too.

bleh, great pic of the Antique Yellow. You captured the color mix and depth of jigging well!

Thank you Robb - the saddle brown was much more than I expected!:)

He managed to squeeze one out of me too!

But don't worry, I've still got a few left!

Squeezed from the squirrel nest - quite a feat I say !! :D:D:D I would say that you do have a few left !!! ;):D

If I can find any of that old bubble gum, I'll send it to you Rob!!;)

It'll probably still taste just the same!

:D:D

Yum yum !!! :thumbup::D:D:D

Just so it's noted---I loved that Baseball card bubblegum and I LOVE FISH!!!

AND

Primble---love and envious of all your new additions:thumbup: It's a good envy though:cool:

I know where you are coming from Paul - I know you meant to send that soup to me. :p:p:p

Yes you are Charlie! You are on my list!:D

Do you want Stick Bubble gum when I ship to you? :D

Several dozen!?:eek: Stamping the bolsters, making the liners, back springs and handles......easy. Grinding the blades.....NOT easy.

OK Two Dozen! :D

Anyway I could get on the awesome list? Thanks Mark.

Ron

Ohhh noooo !!! I may never get my fish Barlow now!:eek::eek::D

The Copperhead has arrived in Lexington!!!:eek::eek:;):) It should be here tomorrow, then I am off to Jackson for the "interception" and a fine meal of soup.

I have my burglar tools in the car already and I know the correct address.;):D

I also have a Blackwood Sheep in route from a long way away - a European TC sheep !!! ;):D and a couple tan jig bones also coming - WOW - I am beginning to sound like that Christian Laettner guy ! :o:o:o:D

Now accepting donations to my bank account - well - it worked in my GAW thread.:eek::D:D

A stag TC Barlow - my goodness !!! :eek::eek::eek:

Got to get back to cooking my dinner - I might set my kitchen on fire - AGAIN !!! :o:o:o:D

P.S. - see you in Jackson redsparrow - Jackson may never be the same !! ;):D:D:D

Primble that TC Spear Macassar PPP is extrodinaire! I would love to find one. The photography is extrodinaire too. Have a safe trip to Jackson. I use to live there in 71. I never got anything as nice as a soup bone out of there though (grin). I did find me a TC soup also on its way to me shortly. Yes, Charlie this shuffling and trading is fun stuff thanks to you.

The trading and shuffling of TCs has proceeded at a dizzying pace!

At this rate, few will have the original TCs they have purchased, but will have an admirable array nonetheless!

Reminds me of the old baseball card trading days of the 1950s and 1960s!

What fun that was . . . . . .except for the bubble gum - it was awful stuff.:p

I promise never to insert Bubble Gum as a "prize" in TC Barlows!!

Of course Charlie the bubble gum could better serve as a cap lifter.
