What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Fingers crossed Perry :D. It was in the 'ok' section of fulfillment when I placed the order for green pick bone but we shall see. I know my wallet won't mind if I missed out

I ...with the others like very much the label, and to Barry - thats a wonderful Etch you have designed- you are quite a talented guy my friend-thanks goes out to Charlie and Barry and of course Bill at his amazing business.
Charlie-as per usual I am behind the times, I love the front label, could I ask for a peek at the label for the back of the Tube? these to me are quite fantastic.
Many thanks everyone for your photos - LOVE those Sun Flowers!

Here it is, Duncan et.al.

What's marmalade? Is that a laxative?

:D

Seriously Charlie, great label and the pick bone is fantastic!

Is the wider spey blade the same profile as the "Stew's" blade minus the notch?

Haha these personal creative labels are something I wished were still done on GEC tubes and I'll be happy to see it on the spey.

Really appreciate the attention to detail you put into everything. Makes me all the more excited for this one to be my first GEC & TC.

They are different blades, not copies or evolutions, Mark, but I look forward to comparisons/pictures. I hope someone posts some. I am often the last one to receive the knives, livin' in a furrin country and all!

Congratulations to everyone that will be receiving one of Charlie's fine Barlow's, one of these years I will figure out how to get them. Meanwhile I'll have to be content with collecting the vintage traditional Barlow's.
Here are 2 finds this week, a 1921 to 1933 Remington UMC and a 60's Case Grand Daddy Barlow. The Remington while well used is still very usable, no play and good snap now that I oiled and cleaned it.
The Case has seen little use and has Case's beautiful red bone.

Oooooo Augie!!!! Man I am LOVING those two - but that Daddy is calling out to me Sir- Wonderful knives ( again).

Charlie, I am Stoked that the Marmalade mentioning still goes on - now who started all that was it before the peanut Butter and Marmite thing - I have a strong feeling Jack had something to do with it?

Sir- You have New Zealands approval of that label - Love it!!! a personal touch along with a feeling of the love for the Traditional knife = awesome!

Nice scores, Augie. They are both class acts!

Glad you like the label, Duncan.

And thanks for the picture grab, Jon!!

Thanks Duncan, Ron and Charlie, really enjoying the hunt for the vintage knives.

Loving these new wider spey blades, so useful looking.

These are great knives, no doubt. I am interested in knowing who prefers the single blade vs. the two blade TC barlow with this spey bladed knife? Just curious as to your reasoning for your preference? So....1 blade or 2....and why?

My preference is for the single bladed Barlows. I almost never use the secondary blade, and I prefer a slimmer knife in the pocket. I also like the symmetry of a single blade knife.

I much prefer single, totally missed out on this one dang it.. would have been my second run. Hoping to get lucky on the exchange maybe. True beauties!

So....1 blade or 2....and why?
Generally prefer 2 blades.:thumbup::thumbup: because;
More comfortable for me to use.
Allows the additional blade to be kept in reserve (sharp and clean).
Secondary blade is usually smaller thus more wield-able.

Wish I had a 2 blade Blackwood reserved! Hint, Hint.:)
