What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

The New Day Speys should be showing up soon!! Can't wait to see your-all's pics, and get my hands on one!! :)
Through all this process, I am still nearly the last person to CE and CF the new knives!!:(

- The first run spey knives remain a marvel of design, two full-length blades in a compact package. I love the way the spey main disappears into the frame-- a "standard" clip blade knife with a stealthy surprise spey.

BUT: a pile-side pen is a favorite secondary blade, and will be a mighty fine complement to this new, wider spey main.

Great stuff!

The new wider spey blade looks like it sits pretty low in the frame of this new run as well. Not quite as deep as the first run, but still quite stealthy. I'm liking what I see very much.

Thanks for keeping the pictures coming, Jake and Ron, and everyone before them!
You are going to like the new Speys, Sarah!
Thanks again for the help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

While I am waiting the Speys  . . . . .;)
Here's an I*XL I picked up from a local knife friend:

In this era of I*XL (not sure of the years), the knives seem to be excellent mechanically. This one has half stops, and snaps crisply into all three positions.
Nice tight knife, that will only get better with age and use!!

Great looking I*XL Barlow, Charlie. Your photos are always so clear! It was the photo of your Case Tested Barlow that reinvigorated my love of Barlows (Camillus and TCs specifically). Thanks!

I can't let that nice old English IXL Barlow go by without a mention! Nice pick up Charlie.

I cheat, Dan!! The thing I do best with cameras is take pics of my thumb, or my foot!! But give me a high resolution scanner . . . . . . . . . . .;)

Glad you enjoy my scans!! I am happy you folks appreciate the I*XL!

very interesting! - so do you put the knife on top of a flat bed scanner and a backing sheet on top?

Yes, Camillus. That's why my backgrounds are yellow. I took the lid off of my scanner and use a yellow microfiber cloth.

I love the write ups that you do for the knives, Charlie! There should really be a thread just for the tubes and boxes. IVANKERLEY has also done incredible artwork for the forum knives. I didnt previously pay much attention to the packaging but you both have changed that. The packaging is almost as fun as the knives.
