What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

These new Tom's Choice Barlows pretty much saw to it that beans and tortillas will be the menu staple for weeks to come. So I might as well ask, are there rumors of a clip point Boys's knife?

The Boy's Knife is on the schedule next after the Champlin Eureka Jacks, ie, soon. According to GEC's website, there will be single and double-bladed clip point Boys Knives (#151113 and #151213, respectively), in the same three handle options as before-- ebony, rust red jigged bone, and nifebrite.

Bean accordingly.

You can afford beans and tortillas? I was looking at Ramen noodles and hotdogs!

Yes, I have been thinking about the 15 boys knives. If they look anything like the Remington jack one or two pages back, I will just sign over my paycheck.

I have a single blade ebony and a double blade red coming. Another pic of a spear bladed version to tide us over.

Im loving mine too!

Anyone happen to know if GEC will be using the ebony sourced by Charlie on the the Boys knives? I would think that batch would have been just for his own SFO, just curious. Got my order in today for a 2-blade ebony TC barlow.

I'm not into the clip versions. Just the spears. Here's a couple pics:

The weathered tree wood matches the steel rather well...

I love the coloring of your copperhead bone TC Barlow!

Not only does the weathered wood match the steel, but it also brings out the color of the copperhead bone very nicely.

Here's a couple more shots of my most carried knife... The Spearpoint two bladed TC Barlow in Antique Amber saw cut bone.

One side of the covers is definitely darker than the other side, but the lighting in these photos exaggerate this quite a bit.

Beans and tortillas, Ramen noodles - I should be so lucky. I'm going to have to plant a garden and eat what comes up - even if it's only the Quack grass that thrives. Horses eat it so I should be able to get something out of it other than bad word practice when it completely fouls the tines on the rototiller. Right?

(Charlie - did you get my emails?)

The Gabon Ebony is all used up! There's none left for the Boy's knives.
I will have to try and find some more for future projects.
Email sent, Wade.

Looks like a little nostalgia/and progress reporting is going on.
This guy has been in my watch pocket since the first shipment came, (except for a hot bath or two!)), and has been my go-to knife these last 4 months.
I can't get over how it sits in my watch pocket, hardly noticeable, but gives me great reassurance when I pat it to make sure I haven't lost it.
It has grown on me like few others! I guess when you see something (or someone) born, you become attached! A kid I can see, but a knife?? Humans are strange critters;

Nice to see the Maher and Grosh Charlie, and its so good to see these Beautiful knives, I hope the bladeforum people understand distance comes first when fulfilling the orders :D
Its so good to see this strong interest in these beauts.
I think we all should support you in these ventures as we will ALL gain from your efforts here Charlie, especially the following generations.

Hahaha, yeah that's what I keep telling myself too. ;) :D

But on a serious note, I actually quite like that stupid etch and couldn't bring myself to cutting a single fruit with it (yet :)).

The Tidioute Cutlery #15 Boy's Knives, with Clip Blade, from GEC will be handled in Rust Red Jigged Bone,Macassar Ebony and NifeBrite Acrylic. Great Eastern has plenty of Macassar Ebony.

Boily is improving with age indeed, ~P.
You might see the patina is even-ing out, and it's getting a nice "pocket polish". Sharp eyes will note that I just honed the edge.
Thanks for all the kind words everyone.

["Great Eastern has plenty of Macassar Ebony."]
Thanks for clearing that up Bob - I didn't mean to say there wouldn't be ebony Boys knives.
