What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

ALLHSS, I think Old Oily (aging nicely BTW) was made in 2013. Nice to see you again at GEC!!

I carry in my RF or watch pocket usually, with sometimes another in my LF.
Carrying a knife in a back pocket always worries me, that I might sit on it and damage it. Ouch!

I should have looked at the tang haha
Yeah, definitely! I enjoyed seeing your Barlow collection again, just wish I could have stayed longer. Next year!

I'm vacationing at my Aunt/Uncle's in Vermont with my girlfriend and got to check out an antique store for old barlows. I saw one, but it was in pretty rough shape and overpriced.

I don't post much here but I'm gonna change that so I'll start off with this pic. Thought Charlie might get a kick out of it, and it was great meeting some of you guys at the Rendezvous.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1440544200.361423.jpg

Ole Steelie is looking fine, Primble!! A fantastic specimen:thumbup:

Charlie
I love that old IXL and someone else felt the same way:D

Thank you Gevo. :thumbup::)

Lookin' spiffy, Rob!! Nice colorful Ebony on that one!
The Ebonies vary quite a bit. a veritable spectrum of colors!

Many thanks Charlie ! None of them quite Ole Boiley, but, nice enough (and very nice blade stamps). :thumbup::thumbup::)

Primble, I agree with Charlie. We will call these "The Spiffy Trio" :thumbup: Nicely done!:D

:D:thumbup::thumbup::D

Where do you find these, just a killer KK, Primble! Wow!

Brad - Markesharp found the old Keen Kutter and sent it to me. :eek::thumbup::thumbup::D

Primble - I normally would not quote a picture following a post with the same one. But dang my friend, this Keen Kutter absolutely deserves it! :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::D

Always appreciated my friend. :thumbup::)

Beautiful Keen Kutter Rob, how can you beat that inscripted bolster~

TC ;):D:D:D

Well, I'm back among the herd with the recent acquisition of an Ancient TC in parchment bone. I got out of the TC game for a while, because of high prices and lack of availability, which both seem to border on ridiculous at times. By no means a slight to the knives themselves, C.C. I love all of them, and the fact that they are highly desired is a testament to the quality. I just personally needed a break. I really liked the idea of a lambsfoot, so I finally snagged one of these. So far, I think the lambsfoot blade on this run is just awesome! Sleek, great swedge, love the blade stamp, patina. And the scale on the bolsters means no worries, it's a user right outta' the gate. Wonderful job Charlie!:thumbup:

Pile side makes me think of Batman (rotate your screen 90 degrees, looks like bat wings), so I think that's the new nickname for mine:

Lovely knife Coolio.
Primble - my friend that Keen Kutter is a great example.
With my work situation it's so hard to keep up to the ever speeding pages of this Thread, let alone post.

Great to see everyone taking such great photos of their great knives.

Thanks Duncan and Dean. I do love knives that are one of a kind due to small differences. OK, back to CFing...:D:thumbup:

A Parchment bone Razor Barlow solid and used, but not abused (before the spa treatment) for $15.00 too :eek:;):D

Beautiful score Mark, first time I've seen Parchment bone used on a knife outside of the Ancients, I guess I've some brushing up to do
