All of the #15 two-blade boy's knives and barlows I have all open and close with clean, crisp snaps.
It works great and will always be cherished!!Sheila has inspired me to create this hi-tech GEC tube opener! I have noticed the lids are particularly tight on most of the Barlow tubes of late.
Invoking the laws of physics (i.e: "give me a lever long enough, and I'll move the Earth!!"), and a stick of firewood, along with various other decorative materials, this is the result!

If you can picture it, you place the pointy end under one of the protrusions inside the top of the lid, and press down on the other end, and the lid virtually flies off the tube!
If you keep some of your knives stored in the tubes, you cannot do without one of these! It will be your friend for life!! (well, you know . . . . . . . .).
I proposed the design to GEC, and the first response was ROTFLTAO!
But then they saw the light - especially when I suggested they name it Tom's Thumb!!
Whudda ya think???![]()
