What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

That shade scrimshaw is enviable, PT! The bolster engraving is cool, and something about the ducks makes me want a knife with ducks.

... How's the walk and quack? Ba-dooh, tshhh!
 
Notice the difference in the blade marking, between the older and the run from this summer. My knife shows single blade marks, and yours shows a three mark pattern.
I remember an old thread talking about the difference in the blade depth, on the TCs. But this looks like a different blade pattern altogether. The variation makes it so fun.
