What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

I suspect that Jigged Bone will appear on a Northfield version of the Barlow, Sarah.

Ooh.
I'd like to see that amazing Blue Bone (that is bone, isn't it?) on a Barlow! That is a beautiful color - very captivating!

Yep, it's bone. It looks over-saturated in those early-evening-indoor pictures (even if that is how it looked in that light!), but nicely "washed" under most regular lighting.

Say, what's this?

Oh, that's right. We knew that. :D

What do you need another barlow for Sarah? That amber clip of yours is my favorite knife in this entire thread. Special knife that one.

Why, thank you. And... I do believe I agree. Or at least, it's the one I can't seem do without , and am glad I don't have to try.

As for "need"-- I don't, of course! A very nice feeling, in fact.

Sated, I continue to look forward to enjoying the ongoing rolling out of these beauties.

Nice Blue there Sarah, a lot going on in that scale when you have a good look at it!

What a fantastic introduction announcement for Charlie, I am sorry if I sound silly, but it kinda makes you feel quite proud of what Charlie has achieved, and I am stoked to own a few knives of his, these T/C 's are simply outstanding, although I get into Charlies Scans photos of his beautiful older knives, the Ulster in his REGULAR JACKS scan ( far left big-boy Ebony ) is what I would call a just about perfect knife in my tastes.

I wish I could be there so badly, New Zealand is about as far away as you can get, my next saver is for this trip to make it to Blade or meetings like this!

A Northfield TC Barlow?? That would be very exciting!

A Blue Bone Barlow would be a must have (Jigged or smooth).

Just received my TC Barlow a few days ago. I am loving it so far. Blade is sharp but not shave sharp.

What is the metal thing it came with?
Is it to open the blade?
I put some oil on the joints and inside the liners. I used the metal thing wrapped in some cotton cleaning clothes to clean the inside of liners with oil.

Just a picture of my favorite knife on a great summers eve, gotta love pictures ;)

That's a wonderful, high-res image of a great knife Paul!
The patina looks spectacular!

Yes, it is a blade key, or knife opener.
Nice to see that "metal thing" has alternate uses!:D

Thank you Charlie---in more ways than one :) Today marks it's 90th straight day in my pocket---rec'd it for my birthday March 23rd and it hasn't seen a day without being carried

Happy 3-month anniversary of your Birthday!!:D
Great present! Someone out there likes you!!:)

great! just when i was considering, that online dealer pulled out all his stocks of tom's choice. just a month ago he had an entire page of TC's of all types: ebony or sawcut bone, single or with pen. now they're gone.

can i get medicine for my barlow fever? is there any online place that i can buy one of these tc barlows or other old-new barlows? i'm hunting for a classic barlow on the auction site but no luck so far and most of the dealers don't ship to istanbul-turkey, too bad. :)

My little girl was out hunting for Ladybugs today and I managed to catch one myself. Here's an iPhone picture:

The Ladybug is a complementary visitor in that woodsy pic!

You, too, are one of the Knives-on-Wood maestros, Duncan!!

Yeah, Dan - where is that pic??
