What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Posted this pic on another thread but its raining here and I don't want to venture outside to take another pic of this knife. Was looking at big auction site earlier this am, low and behold an Anniversary TC, the loveliest of Barlows in my not so humble opinion. It had a healthy "buy it now" price and as I was looking at the advertisement (with no intention of buying) it sold. So glad I have one of these beauties:

Black wood makes a good traditional barlow.

994 pages of Barlows!!! I only looked through the last few pages, but you guys have some great knives. I picked up one of Case's barlows last year and I am super happy with it.

Added another minty Case red bone from the XX years, hard to believe this one is 60 years old or more. Little bit of sunrise action on a stormy morning going on in the pile side handle.
