What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

As someone who has been carrying a Barlow on & off since the 1950s, calling these Lionsteel Barlows "traditional" is maybe a bit of a stretch; but the combination of the awesome M390 blade steel & modern materials make them outstanding knives no matter what category you put them in.

I love barlows, second only to my SAK Tinker. Where did you find that model? Several of my usual dealers carry LionSteel, but not the barlow :(

My wife's maternal grandfather lost his arm on the last day of World War I...when she was a child, she assumed "Armistice Day" was in honor of her grandpa. After the war he worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad, I have heard he carried a pocket knife like all good railroad men do but I have been unable to determine if he carried a "Razor Blade" or "One Armed Man's Knife" as I have heard them referred to....so cool, necessity being the mother of invention!
