what multi-tool?

These days the LM Wave has been mostly relegated to the car kit, and its a Victorinox Tinker that sees the real use

I've been using a LM Blast for the past several months now. It's the perfect balance of weight for carry, and enough tools for what you'd need any time, and not enough fluff tools that won't see much use. I've put the pliers and wire cutters to some thumping work, and the plastic liners haven't showed any issue with breakage. Sweet little rig that's a decent price for what you get.

An SOG rides in my Carharrt pants every day. They probably already have one (haven't looked) but I really wished my SOG had a 1/4" hex bit driver on it so I could carry a small package of bits with me

Hey Jeff, My powerlock came with a 1/4" driver. It's nestled between the scissors and the main blade, at least on mine.

I carry a LM wave ,(I have 4 LM waves :) ) I also have LM Ti Charge, dontcare for it, Swiss tool, and a few SAK Knives.....Hiker,rucksack,camper,one hand trekker, farmers.
my favorite edc is the Hiker ,LM Wave & Izula combo

Does County Comm have anything left on the shelves? :D

LOL, hey Jeff. Yeah I look like some kind of CC fanboy or something. I took that pic after receiving an order from them. They didn't ship outside the US (heard that's recently changed) so I had to place an order for everything I wanted in one shot and have it delivered to my mom in FL.

Hey Tony, I'm curious what it is about the Charge Ti that you don't care for? I've never owned one because I couldn't justify the price compared to my Supertool or Wave but I heard it was one of the better Leathermans.

I dont like the pliers, cap crimper is useless to me, the frame is large and bulky only plus to me is the S30v blade, It will go down the road via trade section oneday:D

^^Ah ok. Thanks for the info. After owning the SuperTool I wasn't super impressed with my first Wave because it has a lot of lateral play in the handles. My Wave II is super stiff though, and a lot more confidence inspiring under heavy use. I also prefer that all the tools on it can lock compared to the original Wave.
Also, I haven't noticed any yet on the Wave II but the other thing I didn't like about my Wave I was how easy it seemed to get rust marks on it.

All 4 of my Waves are the original and my EDC has some lateral play, does not bother me but it is there... I not a fan of the new version wave...it is larger than the original but my son like it

Here is the tool lineup on mine (not counting blades): Strap cutter, can opener, Flat screwdriver, phillips screwdriver, flat drive with bottle opener, saw

Besides, isn't SOG's hex driver a flat thing that requires an adapater? That's sort of cheesy to me. Why not have a real hex driver on the tool. I gues they need the extra space?

thanks for all the feed back. i have been interested in the sog but have only looked at them on knifeworks. cant find a local store that has them

I'm pretty sure it is a 1/4" driver which is meant to be used with say a 1/4" drive socket set, not hex bits (although I assume they sell a 1/4" drive hex adapter).

As in, it takes the place of one of these:

Well, that makes sense. What I'm looking for is a tool that will take hex bits, so it would need to be a female 1/4" hex tool with a rare earth magnet in it.

Do you have a Lowes in your area? I know the Lowes around here stock the SOG Powerlock (usually just hanging on the end of an aisle in the electrical tool section).

I don't know of any multitool out there that has that..closest would be the Leatherman tools with the bit driver, but you'd need to carry their proprietary flat bits. I use the LM bits and never had a problem.

SOG does have a small adapter (maybe a 1/2" long) that fits on their 1/4" tool. With that adapter you can fit standard 1/4" bits. You don't need the SOG adapter though, you can find regular ones in any hardware store near the screwdrivers and bits. You could carry that around with whatever bits you use, or in a bit kit of some kind.

MultiTasker has the hex bit driver on their tools

I posted it on the other page, but it might've been a shitty link. Jeff, SOG makes an adapter jammy for the 1/4" socket drive on their tools.

Find it here.

I know it's not a built-in piece like the LMs have, but it looks pretty solid. Hell, if you have the 1/4" socket adaptor on your tool (if not you can get it on the link on that page) you can use any little 1/4" bit adaptor. I may even have one laying around my toolbox you could use.

When I was really young I got a Leatherman as a gift, and it came in a bubble packed set with a sort of adapter device for normal hex bits. I have long since lost it, but this looks like the same thing:

Basically it slips in between the handles on the plier head side when in the closed position and locks into place, and the hex adapter can be angled at 0, 45, and 90 degrees. Kind of a stopgap solution but it did work. The SOG thing seems a little nicer, all you would need to use it with the bits is one of these:

The piece sold by SOG is called "SOG QTR-SKT 1/4 in. Socket Adapter for Powerlock" although many others make the same socket.

Edit - Beaten to it by GoNadz!
