What other knives do you like?

I also picked up a Bark River Bravo-1 that really feels great. I cant wait for Condor's carbon machete line to be released as well.
I wouldnt mind handling a JK, Fiddleback, or ML either. They look amazing.
There are so many good knife makers out there!!

I have RAT cutlery & semi Customs NWA knives,a few Dan Kosters as fixed blades, I kept one BRK&T Fox River ,and I forgot I have this tandem Scrapyard DF & DM both combat grade ,which means black coated blades ... Folders Blade Tech, spyderco millie,SAK's, Leatherman & Victorinox mutlitools.

Before that I carried a CRKT or Gerber or SAK. Mostly I own folders, but recently began aquiring a few fixed blades. Thus my interest in RAT. By the way spending time in these forums is going to end up costing me some money.

i inherited a chair one day, and it shat a little silver Buck "Gent" from somewhere in the folds and creases. I am fond of that little folder.

Zero tolerance, great knifes. a little pricy, and built like tanks. As for the kitchen I use shuns with the exception of their boning knife. Their example of a boning knife is anyone elses utility knife. I kept a Wustof boning knife and large cleaver when needed.

My list of "likes" is way too long to post here.

I have a ton of knives, but the ones I really use the most other than my RATs are Fiddlebacks, Leatherman multitool, Becker, and Ranger. My Fiddlebacks are my favorite customs.

My Dear Friends,

My knife "likes" are somewhat limited. Not that other quality blades aren't available, but value (quality versus price) is a big determining factor. When your knife acquisition funds are limited, you want the most "bang for your buck", so to speak.

Ergonomics and aesthetics are also factors - ugly knives need not apply. :p

That all being said, EDC slip-joint pocketknives are most generally anything Swiss Army by Victorinox or Wenger (the China-made "swiss-style" knives are generally pretty abysmal in the quality department). I am not adverse to carrying a more traditional slipjoint folder, but I am a fan of the older Boker slipjoints and sadly don't seem to have one in the collection right now.

For "pocket-clipped" folding knives I am a die-hard fan of Spyderco. Emerson also receives very high marks. Some of Boker's more recent knives (CLB models specifically) rate very highly with me.

Multitools? IMO 99% of them suck - they do a lot of different things poorly. I do keep a Victorinox Swisstool handy - it is far and away one of the best in design. Spyderco's Spyderench is an amazing piece of work, but I gifted mine to a friend who needed it far more than I did.

Fixed blade knives? RAT Cutlery pretty much exclusively. I admit that I have a couple of custom fixed blades that are *very* much special-purpose items, but for normal, day-to-day cutting it will always be my RC-4 or Izula.

Moonwilson and Mtnfolk Mike,

Man, you two are loaded with knives!!! Good stuff!!! Wish I had your collections!!!

Great looking knives!!!

I put a lot of stock in the "bang for the buck" theory as well. I "limit" my knife funds pretty stickly, so value means alot to me. That said, there a many fine custom and semi-custom blades out there that I would love to have but don't make sense for me right now.

My current favorites fall into four "need" groups that I buy pretty regularly -

Dress EDC - small, good quality slipjoints - Case Stag, Boker, etc. Gotta be around 3" and <1.5 oz. I love to carry these little knives and have a Case MiniCopperhead in my pocket right now. SAK's are great but tend to be a little bulky for my taste.

Small Tactical EDC (folder) - I don't have a need for a large folding tactical knife, but I really like mid-sized Benchmade's (Blue Class) & Spyderco's. Lots of variety in choices and good quality - generally. I've got a BM 440 clipped inside my waistline right now. Chris Reeve Knives and William Henry's are excellent, but IMO you have to want really want one to validate the extra $ or so for (what I view) as a relatively small gain in quality for user knives. If you are going for a collectable tho, that's another story.....

Truck tools/knives - I carry a Leatherman (Surge) in the truck and am targeting a HEST or RC-3mil as a companion. Don't care too much for the Gerber and SOG Multitools, but that's just me. These aren't for EDC unless you're on a jobsite or in the woods.

Camping/Hunting - RAT Cutlery baby! Got a 6 and an Izula. Want a 4 and an RC-10 (November?). I knew I made the right decision not buying the RTAK from Ontario. Would love to get a Busse(kin), a TOPS, or a Ferhman, but as I said, they're not in the budget right now. Need to get the kids graduated first.....

Besides RAT Cutlery:
Ranger
Bark River
Busse (all 3 companies)
Fehrman
Martin (only 1 from them)

99% of mine are fixed blades

Pretty much the only knives I carry on a regular basis anymore are my Spydercos (usually have at least 2 or 3 on me) and my one and only RAT - my RC-3. During the week it rides in my EDC bag and on the weekends is usually in a pocket or close by. Sees alot of use in the yard AND the kitchen.

I also am a fan of Himalayan Imports khuks for bigger jobs and Boker's CLB designs as well.

I have this:

Rats x3
Busse x2
Fallkniven x4
Strider x3

Thats only 12 knives, i must get more Rats
