What other knives do you like?

I (obviously since I'm here) love RAT knives. Even more important though, I want RAT Cutlery to survive as a business, so I try to buy stuff from them as a way of rewarding them for doing the right thing. Their warranty is outstanding and their sentiments about using American labor only is very compelling. I feel that I get a great product and that my money is returned to me in a way since I try to keep the money in the country.

As far as other knives go, I tend to only buy Spyderco folders (and often pick the Golden made variety if I can.) I find sticking to certain brands not only ensures that I do business with people I would like to give my money to, but also helps reign in my spending a lot. I would like add Case to the list of reputable makers (because of their RAT-like attitude to labor and parts), but unfortunately I'm just not that into traditional slippies.

I'm not so rigorous with fixed blades and have recently bought a Scrap Yard Scrapper 6, and can see myself buying more of their blades. I would like to try a Busse too, but can't really justify the expense. RAT will still be my fixed blade of choice.

Aside from my RATs my knives consist mostly of Vic SAKs, Bark Rivers, Rangers, and a couple of Fallknivens. Also a Leatherman, an Al Mar and a Mora. I gotta get em all together for an updated family photo :)

I like all kinds of blades, albeit RAT is my favorite.

I like for EDC, Spyderco, Benchmade, Buck, Kershaw. (I do have others, but not nearly as much pocket time.)
Fixed: RAT, Becker, Buck, CS. I also like a bunch of others, but have only borrowed them, not owned them, sadly.

There are many knives out there that i'd like to get my hands on, but when it comes to what I HAVE to have and like the most, its RAT. Rat is all I own and until I graduate from college and have some more disposable income, Rat is what I'll stick with. Having said that, I love Benchmade folders and the Bark River Bravo 1 is really nice. Some Emerson folders I'd love to get my hands on as well.

I've bought and sold a lot of knives trying to find the ones I like the best. I have become obsessed with RAT but there are a few others that I like as well. Bark River (several), Blade-Tech PH Magnum (my favorite folder), Spyderco Para- Military and a couple of Benchmades are the ones I decided to keep. BUT, none of them see the use that my RAT's get.

For productions - only RC and Scrapyard. Customs: Breeden, JK, Koyote, Wade...

Missing here - Scrapyard S5....Soon to arrive Koyote skinner and spyderco military.

My edc rotation for folders is:

Strider SnG
BM Skirmish
BM Hardtail
Spydie Millie
Buck Vantage Pro

I usually have one of these in my FRP.

I always have a Vic Climber in my RRP next to my wallet.

On weekends, I will have either a LM Surge, Vic Swisstool or Vic Swiss Spirit on my belt, depending on the usage.

Of course, in my LFP lives my Fenix L1D. A knife is no good if you can't see!!:D

+1 on the Mora:thumbup:. I never go camping without at least one Mora.

-totaly different attributes than a Rat knife. RAT's are hard use durable knives with almost unlimited capabilities (within their sizes). But Moras (or scandi styles) are high performance cutters -nothing cuts like a Mora. Of course they are less durable so you have to be more selective in a scandi's uses.

I have been EDCing a SOG Twitch XL for the past month or so, I try and stick with knives that are ambidextrous friendly (SOG, Spyderco, ect..) since im left handed my choices are limited on the knives that I am able to use.

Holy CRAP Mike, I love it. I'm assuming this is a copy of the Madison Parker pattern.

Who made it for you?

haha... right on Shotgunner...:D that bad boy was made by Ricky Fowler, who is no longer making knives...:( it is his survival knife model, which is also used by Madison Parker... it's a solid knife man... it feels great when in use.. i love it..

Brian Goode also makes a knife just like it, based off of this one... that is really nice looking too..

this is my "holy grail" knife...:o i have wanted one for a long time... i finally scored one a little over a year ago from a fellow forum member...:)

I normally buy/carry spyderco & benchmades since i normally don't carry fixed blades except for hiking / camping. waiting for rat to come out w/ a small 'office' folder.

Well, obviously I like RAT--I pocket EDC my Izula and keep my 3 and 6 on/in my backpack every day, but since this is about the OTHER knives we like...here are my OTHER favorite companies

Locking Folders: Benchmade and Spyderco
Slipjoints: Case
Machetes: Condor
Axes: Antiques, mostly...I have and use a Gerber/Fiskars, however. Keen Kutter gets me pretty excited when I find one though!

Obviously there are lots of great knives by other manufacturers that I like quite a bit, but these are simply the companies that I enjoy the MOST for their respective categories. Like Jeff if it was simply a list of knives I liked then the list would be waaaaay too long to post! :)

Shotgunner -
My "TTW" knife is based off of Ricky Fowlers pattern. I changed my handle profile and grind height and overall length. These are my 2 "TTW's" and there my favorite outdoor knife to have if I am stuck with 1 knife.
