I (obviously since I'm here) love RAT knives. Even more important though, I want RAT Cutlery to survive as a business, so I try to buy stuff from them as a way of rewarding them for doing the right thing. Their warranty is outstanding and their sentiments about using American labor only is very compelling. I feel that I get a great product and that my money is returned to me in a way since I try to keep the money in the country.
As far as other knives go, I tend to only buy Spyderco folders (and often pick the Golden made variety if I can.) I find sticking to certain brands not only ensures that I do business with people I would like to give my money to, but also helps reign in my spending a lot. I would like add Case to the list of reputable makers (because of their RAT-like attitude to labor and parts), but unfortunately I'm just not that into traditional slippies.
I'm not so rigorous with fixed blades and have recently bought a Scrap Yard Scrapper 6, and can see myself buying more of their blades. I would like to try a Busse too, but can't really justify the expense. RAT will still be my fixed blade of choice.
