Me and my son love to play scenario paintball and travel all over the southeast to play. I have 7 or 8 guys that I work with that also play on our team. We play at least once a month and it is usually a big camping trip with a feast the night before and then run around in the woods shooting up the bad guys, if you haven't tried it, it is loads of fun. I know this is wilderness and survival but thought it might be fun to see what other outdoors hobbies people enjoy. Chris

Im an avid mountain biker. Have been since I was 9 years old.

I used to mountain bike myself, road a cannondale killer v, probably showing my age. ;) I took a bad fall and ruptured a disk in my back and never got back on, might be time to dust the ole bike off myself. Chris

I must shoot at least every two weeks. If I'm not burning up large amounts of ammo... I don't feel right.

I remember those!! Great bikes.

I ride a singlespeed these days. I built one out of a specialized frame. Aquiring parts to build a Surly Karate Monkey now...29er

When I lived in AZ I burnt through over a pound of powder a month, if I wasn't shooting I was sitting at the reloading bench. Here in Fayette-Nam I hardly shoot at all, too much of a PITA. Chris

I'm really looking forward to strawberry-picking season. I got into making my own wine and cider a couple years ago, and there is simply nothing better than homemade strawberry wine :)

A friend bought a remote-control snowmobile this winter. I mocked him until he let me try it. Great fun!

I make my own cider also and am still tweaking my recipe. What yeast are you using and do you stop the fermentation at a certain point. I have a hard time making mine too strong. I would like to be able to sit around the fire and enjoy several pints instead of just one. Chris

Other then camping, hiking, hunting, shooting and fishing I often partake in:
Mountain Biking (Raleigh M60)
Road Biking (Lemond Reno)
Off Road Driving (Jeep YJ w/ a 350 and 8")
Archery (an Old PSE compund but look forward to making a traditional)
Wakeboard (Cheap one off of a buddy)
Jet Skiing ('89 JS500 and an '89 650 X2)
Playing with my dog (5 yr old Lab/Shepherd mix)
Traveling (About to head to the Congo)

I keep busy.

I use Red Star champagne yeast in the yellow packet for apples and strawberries. I let it ferment fully out.

The key to controlling alcohol levels is to use a hydrometer, measuring the specific gravity of your juice before fermentation. Basically, the higher the hydrometer floats, the denser the juice is, meaning the more sugar that's in it, meaning the more alcohol will be produced. The ones made for homebrewers will have the SG scale and a potential alcohol scale on them. So you'll be able to add just enough sugars to get the strength you want. As the sugar is consumed by the yeast, the SG will go back down. A real dry wine will actually have a negative SG, because alcohol is less dense than water. My hydrometer cost me about $8 at a local hobby shop where I get my yeast.

The second best advice I can give is to use as little white sugar in your recipe as possible. To me, it tastes harsh when fermented. Boost the P.A. with more crushed fruit or concentrated juice instead. Honey works great but is mighty expensive.
