What role for the JUNGLAS?

I also have a Junglas and a RTAK II. Today I just ordered a Becker BK 9.
I think it was that guy from Buck knives that said.
"You can use a big knife to do big jobs and small jobs, and you can use a small knife to do small jobs...But you can't use a small knife to do big jobs."

That's my philosophy in a nut shell..."Go big or go home"

Oh yeah. Every time I go out into the swamps without a big knife or machete, I end up wishing I had one.

I mostly use my Junglas in an EDC role... :D

Ok in all seriousness now...

The Junglas is not realistically the most PRACTICAL tool for use in any scenario. Nutnfancy and others might tell you otherwise, but when it comes down to real world use, an axe works better for wood processing, a small knife works better for carving and detail stuff, and a machete works better for brush clearing...

Keep in mind, however, that very few tools can really even be mentioned in a sentence that includes all of those tasks that I detailed above. It CAN do anything, it just doesn't do it as well as a tool that is specifically designed for that task. It's like a jack of all trades, master of none, kinda deal.

All of that being said, I love my Junglas and bring it with me on almost every outing into the bush. Why? Because it's fun as hell to play with a big knife in the woods.

If all of our decisions were based on what was the most practical, almost everyone would drive smart cars, all fine dining restaurants would close, all of the fancy designer clothing stores would close, weapons wouldn't be nearly as fun, and the Junglas wouldn't exist. I don't know about you, but I like living in a world where I can based my decisions on what I enjoy the most, because not everybody is that fortunate.

I'm going to use my Junglas to hack up hogs, thereby ensuring that the used market for ESEE cutlery is replenished.

The interesting thing about that is that it has this weird contradictory effect. The amount of Junglas's given away is exactly proportionate to the number of new Jungals's bought.

God bless,
Adam

While my only Esee blade is currently the bastard child of the family, - the Hest, i've sincerely fallen in love with the simple designs of the knives and the company behind them. As for the junglas, i want one, for the cool factor, the anti-zombie capabilites and maybe even for some use out on my grandfather's farm. Not to hijack the thread, but guess this is my introduction post too, lol.. killing time, waiting for snow-magedeon here in oklahoma.

Consider yourself highjacked akuma13. Welcome to the forum. Great guys, great information, greats shots & videos, all rolled into one. Start saving your dimes and quarters, the formula is already cruising through your system if you have the HEST. Good luck.
Be safe.

WHEeeee!!!!!! a good friend is selling me his junglas, it will be an all rounder for me, paired up with a few smaller blades (Izula, Eskabar, and a few others)

Making fuzz-sticks, batonning, chopping wood, clearing brush, flipping sausages and steaks, cutting open food packaging, making spears, cutting rope...

You know, the sort of stuff a knife is useful for.
Weird!

There's certainly a "cool" factor involved with the Junglas. Honestly though, it's a pretty versatile blade for its size. It can do a lot of jobs very well. Just a matter of if you can justify a blade that big in your line-up.

I really like my Junglas. Is it totally practical for me? No. But again, it's one of those knives that may come in handy with its extra size at some point. I'm an ESEE addict, had to have it in the end. Don't regret getting it at all.

For me the ESEE-5 and Izula-2 are about all the knives I'd ever really need. They're the ones for me that get the most use.

Well I should have it in about 2 days. I am almost certain I will end up with all of them eventually. I DO see alot of reasons to have one. Just from what I was reading, seemed like alot of people just got it for the fun factor. Glad to see people putting it to good use. I think I will be ordering a 5 soon as well. Then an Izula, Pack knife Izula2, Laserstrike.......And so on!

...Why was the Junglas even made?

If you do a search for "RC10" on the forums, It shows pretty clearly that it was mainly produced to shut us the hell up.

I find It's filling the same role as my RTAKII was, batoning 4-6 inch longs. It's capable of chopping, but I'd rather have a machete or axe. It's capable of small stuff, but kinda huge.

It's capable of doing a lot, but not really great at anything. That said, it's one of my favorite blades.

I like bigger knives for splitting fire wood over an axe,( when backpacking and wilderness camping) because it's usually lighter and I think it works better with small stuff when getting a fire started. You also don't need wood to stand up correctly to split.

If this knife was not designed to chop, split wood, and shelter building, then what was it designed for wall hanging.

Oh yeah. Every time I go out into the swamps without a big knife or machete, I end up wishing I had one.

And that confirms another one of my knife philosophys.
"I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it."

How many times have you been out in the bush and said. "Damn...My knife is too big. It's gona take me forever to build a shelter, or a fire or what ever."
You can *Make due* with an oversized blade a whole lott easier than you can *Make due* with an undersized blade.

The Junglas was my first Esee purchase for ONE main reason, to process fire wood, chopping and shelter making. Axes are too heavy to carry long term so weight is a huge factor. The Junglas (combined with a sawvivor) is super for batoning into larger wood when everything is soaked and you need to get to dry wood. When it all hits the fan soon and your out in the woods trying to survive fire making along with fresh water is going to be your number one priority and the Junglas is going to save your life. Your not going to be hauling axes and the such around in such situations and its on the horizon no mater what others say. Get one before its too late.

I'd like to get one. I just bought an Izula, I love it, and I'd like to have the whole ESEE line on the cheap. Having the biggest one and the smallest one is how I'm gonna do that.
