What role for the JUNGLAS?

I have seen alot of threads and discusions about batoning lately, and alot of talk about the Junglas. It seems that alot of people are anti Batoning, and don't see the Junglas filling this role. I have also seen Jeff talk about the Machete filling a Chopper role better as well. So it leads me to wonder......Why was the Junglas even made? So many talk about having one for the "COOL FACTOR" but is that really a good reason to produce a blade?

So what if any role do you guys see the Junglas filling? For me it will be my chopper,I also have an RTAK II, that I used for this purpose, and it has done well. With that said, I would also like to get the Lite Machete to try it out.

Tony.

Sorry for getting in on this thread late....

Real simple, the blade was made for the Jungla Special Operations Forces in Colombia. The thing works pretty good chopping coca and Marijuana plants, so it's mainly an anti-narcotics blade. We've got a lot of DEA using them in the states. With all that said, the machete will do just as good for most applications (if not better), but the Junglas is stronger and makes you look cool doing things.

What rock you been living under around here? :D That's the reason 90 percent of all blades are sold!

Amazingly the LS seems to be breaking this rule. Most people seem to say its ugly, but they'll get it anyway. You've begun a revolution Jeff!

God bless,
Adam

PS: Maybe I'll have to save up and get a Junglas now to support drug-busters round the world.

Silly me!! Oh and by the way. I happen to dig the way the L.S looks....So there! ;-)

Tersfeld, I said, "most people." Most people is not all people. There is a key difference. That difference is of course that with most being, some are not. Note, I never stated I was among the most. I think the LS is a sexy woods-beast.

God bless,
Adam

PS: You have good taste.

I too am wondering what the functionality of the Junglas is.
After living in the woods full-time for two years i can tell you for my buck, nothing, nothing beats a kukri knife. it chops, makes kindling-splitting fun, and is unbreakable. baton away.
i bought a small granfors camping axe to experiment but returned it within days. the kukri is superior for large and small stuff, safer and more precise, and only slightly heavier if at all. i do keep and use a granfors splitting axe and its indespensible.
I think a good kukri would beat the junglas any day for machete-ing purposes as well. I've had large blades and they're fun to handle, but for practicality in a large chunk of steel, i'd go kukri.
by the way, my himalayan imports villager model has been abused to the point of the handle loosening, so i'm gonna rehandle it in micarta and parkerize the blade, what i think will result in the baddest tool/weapon known to man.
a saw, small knife like an izula or woodcraft knife, and a kukri and you're set for life in the woods.

Wow, are you homeless? I don't know that I have ever met anyone who has lived full time in the woods for two years. How have you been eating? Hunting and trapping? You should fit in great around these parts. ;)

If you had any kind of experience using a large knife and a machete, you'd know the role. Edges on machetes that thin roll like mad. While they may bite deeper per swing, you also have to re-sharpen them alot faster. The Junglas is more of a long term use knife, much more robust and durable. It also has a working point, whereas the lite machete does not.

I do have experience using large blades. I Wasn't asking what I should use it for, but, what was Esee s intended use when designing it.

I mostly use my Junglas in an EDC role... :D

Haha, nice.

The Junglas is definitely a contender for best neck blade ever.

It seems like most people here carry the Junglas on the side of their pack. Does anyone carry it on a belt or baldric?

I like baldric carry when I'm not wearing a pack, especially when wearing pants with a hammer loop or tool pocket - the tip of the sheath rides in that so the Junglas doesn't beat me to death or catch on everything.
