What SAK are ya totin' today?

Where's the split ring for the lanyard ?
I have to admit I've been converted to the Farmer myself .
If they made the Harvester with the lanyard ring I'd just sit out on the veranda with a contented smile on my face for the rest of my days :)

The lanyard on this one was ground off. :)

Did the same thing on my other New Shield Red Farmer....the EDC NS Farmer still has it's ring.

I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight with those visions of SAK mutilation bouncing around in my head .
Here I am cursing Victorinox for not putting a lanyard ring on every model and you guys are out in the shed grinding them off :)

Sometimes I ponder grinding off the split ring because it can dig into your hand when using the main blade/can opener but just can't bring myself to deface a victorinox design. What would make the most sense to me is the hollow rivet.

I did this to my first Pioneer after cutting up 10-12 big water heater boxes for the dumpster. Put a big blister on my hand. It's a good mod if heavy work and the way you hold the knife causes problems.

Still have it...bought in '83.

I'd never really thought about the key ring until I got this yesterday, its a traveller. I have to say I really like not having the key ring.

Took the altimeter to church with me today. I need to calibrate the altimeter, however, since its off by over 200 feet.

Those are a couple of nice Vics, Thales!:thumbup:

(And how did you choose your "username"?? I occasionally teach a history of math class at the college where I work, and you're kind of a big deal in the "Greek miracle"! :D)

In ancient Greece Thales invented the first business monopoly in order to demonstrate that philosophers weren't practically useless individuals. Seemed like a fitting name for a knife carrying philosophy professor.

Thanks for the info, Thales. The choice of name makes a lot of sense, now that I know "the rest of the story"!:thumbup:
If we ever have a contest here to name the "Seven Sages of BladeForums", you'll have a real advantage!:D:rolleyes:
(I like the legend about Thales, donkeys, salt, rivers, and sponges. :))
