What SAK are ya totin' today?

White Escort, the oft-overlooked little brother to the SD-classic, with MUCH better blade placement! Who else wishes that the SD Classic had a blade on the opposing side to the keyring? The one fatal flaw, imo. Who carrries an Escort? I know that some people switch up between the SD Classic, Rambler, whatever, ever add an Escort to it? Very few are pictured.
I used to own a similar Wenger model in 65mm. Lost it at some point many years ago. I have a weak spot for Wenger as the first SAK's I owned as a kid, were from Wenger.

Awesome, I have an Executive (65mm is the next size up, right?) on its way from repair from Vic, and while it is eventually destined for a shadow-box along with his hat, his pistol, a scale-model of his favorite car to drive (I think the pistol and model car are both made out of the same thing! LOL), and his biker vest, I hope to be able to try out the refurb'd Exec before it goes in the box, but that will be some months, because we still have things to collect.am u

Never did own a Wenger, though I hope to! I wish Ecoline was still a thing :( About to try out an Alox Florist for the first time -psyched for the wharncliffe. Beel looking for a modder to put a K390 Dragonfly Wharncliffe blade on a 91mm.

afishhunter afishhunter Another thing I've never had is a true full-size knife Vic (unless it's only that - a full-sized knife and nothing else - love their kitchenware!) or should I say SAK. I figure once a 111mm comes out in my style, I will give it a try.
I really wanted the Damasteel Picknicker and the 125 Anniversary reproduction, but $375 and $500 respectively are just too out of my range, they would be the most expensive knives in my collection (paid for that is) and I am used to paying a markup of like $15-20 for my SAKs to get the kinds I like from Finland/Estonia. I get that, especially the last one, is a collector's thing, but I can't do it, ha.

The 125th looks like the original, but has several differences . Stainless Steel blades, for one. Personally, I'd rather have carbon steel like the original. At the asking price, I'm out either way.

I agree, $375 ~ $500 and more for a knife is silly. I'd venture to say over $100 or so for a production knife is at or past the point of diminishing returns compared to the less expensive version of the same knife by the same company.
At a certain point, you're just throwing funds at or after "bling", not improved cutting ability.

Yeah, exactly. I forgot who, but somebody does 20CV/M390 reblades as well as rehandles for SAKs and Opinels - costs a hundred something. I'd say that's more than fair, a modern powder steel, custom aesthetics. I'd be far more likely to get that, than one of those Vic specials.

Oh, and +1 on the carbon blade! I'm gonna put a carbon blade in a SAK one way or the other.

Around the yard and garden with a new [to me] Huntsman.

84mm Electrician today. RadioShack.
Sweet Electrician! Is it a chisel grind like the other Vic Wharncliffes, or V grind?

I will have SAKs slowly trickling in in the next few days, but I got this one today. Mostly to try bigger 91mms to see what I want as the base model for my "Super SAK" and to get the hang of changing scales. Today, my Tinker Deluxe came through. Boy, the pliers really take a lot of space. Will be carrying this to try to ascertain the usefulness of the pliers. Anyone who has experience with the pliers vs Leatherman pliers, how much worse is Vics? I know it can't be a LM, but, are they pretty good for what they are, like all the other tools on a SAK?

Also, this one is somewhat old but in great shape, made from 92-05, based on the tang stamp. My oldest Vic to date. And as I watch more MacGyver, red looks better and better to me.

The Electrician blade is the same basic shape as the Alox Electrician mate, chisel ground.

"S"-Biner came in today. Added a hole to my belt for it, and clipped the Evo Grip 14 on.
SAK's for today and probably the remainder of 2022 ... maybe the rest of the 2000's that I'm still on the sunny side of the grass and after, if I get planted and not put in a daRn cramped no room to stretch jar ... are the Hercules, Evo Grip 14 )unless I splurge and get a replacement Huntsman( and Mini Champ. ,
