What SAK are ya totin' today?

As usual, I had my trusty Pioneer today, came in quite handy for something I wouldn't have said it was intended for, I was putting some air in my wife's car and the valve stem cover on one was very tight, couldn't budge it with my grip, no pliers handy, her car, but I took the can opener/screwdriver blade out and pinched the valve cover between the handle and the start of the can opener tip, like a spanner wrench effect, and was able to get it moving using that! :)

Great story MacGraleyver! Solve the problem with the tool available at hand!

And therein lays the true beauty of a SAK! The ability of the tools to be used in ways other than the designed use of said tool. A SAK is limited only by the imagination of the owner.

Thanks guys and yes, always keep thinking! excellent toolkits theses SAK's are!
In my small kit bag I take to work everyday has several larger SAK folders, two with pliers and also the Swiss Army Tool, but, I was in her car, I need to fix that empty glove box :)

Fresh out of the mailbox is this new SwissBianco Yeoman. At about only $25 more than an Explorer Plus, it eliminates the Explorer's 4th layer for better pocketability, but retains every tool I find important including an inline phillips, magnifier and pen. Build quality is indistinguishable from factory specs. It is like travelling back in time to the era when Victorinox made what many would contend is the best EDC SAK ever produced.

Going to pocket the recruit I picked up yesterday. Unfortunately for my wallet I checked out a long standing mom an pop outdoor store that is tucked in side street on the way to work. As soon as you walk in the door they have two spinners of Victorinox knives:)

A Midnight Manager forms the heart of my annoyance survival kit, which has become part of the EDC:

The kit covers the need to cut small things, work with small screws, open bottles, jot notes, find small items, cut my nails or hangnails, and remove slivers/pluck hairs/open pores. I just wish the scissors weren't there, because they really don't help for most tasks.

Decided to try a little experiment (and I do mean little ;):D ) and carry nothing but an Ambassador for a while. Just took the Classic off my keyring and, all things considered, I think I've managed to make it through the ordeal relatively unscathed. I guess we'll just have to see if it's even humanly possible to hold out and, if so, for how long...:p

I got here late, so I don't know in what era the best Vics were made. My first was a Swisschamp from 1993, and others since. I thought they were all pretty good, but maybe I missed the right era. Please tell us when that was and what made then Vics better than current ones.
