I have a few Schrades. And the list is slowly growing:

172S - a good knife, fairly rare, pretty cheap
165OT - four, my favorites, 1 nice keeper, 1 worker, and 2 for rescale
162UH - an interesting ebay find. P.O. glued turqouise stones in holes he made with a dremmel...rescale fodder. :(
160OT - two,a good user and one NIB
153UH - nice, but I am not partial to stainless for use
158OT - last of a local dealer's stock
156OT - a newly acquired edc I am growing fond of
154G - another nice one from ebay. Skoal edition with green delrin
152OT- two, my second favorite, one user, one for rescale
152OT- Walmart hid one from me....last of production. And it is stainless!
13OT - NIB and on it's way. Fairly rare I hear.
15OT - For rescale. Looks like the P.O. used it for a hammer. For rescale.
137 - A nice old Walden serrated knife
498 - Staglon abused knife - retired
SC501 - Gift from a friend for rescale, a version of the 154OT
#1 Geo. Schrade Stagbrand - sweet little bird and trout from the '40's
#4 Geo. Schrade Stagbrand - A larger version of the #1 with double ground blade 4-7/8"
140OT - Gifts from family- Trail Boss
141OT - Outfitter
142OT - Guidemaster
143OT - Bladerunner Guthook
147OT - "Profisherman" A long flexable fillet knife
246OT - "Mini-Flex" A short stiff fillet knife
47OT - BEAST and aptly named. Should be carried by a guy named Brutus or Moose
43OT - Pocket beast. A bit smaller, but still not for air travel
XT1B - Camp knife. A bolo shaped knife. Phil's review prompted this purchase!
XT2B - A 4 1/2" drop point epoxy coated TPR gripped hunter.Couldn't resist this black on black series...the last series of fixed blades Schrade made.
XT3B - A guthook skinner version X-Timer
XT7B - A folder version of the XT2B
24OTX - The only small slipjoint X-Timer. Black Delrin with brass X-Timer shield.
SQ447 - 4x4 lockblade chrome diamondplate with black blade
SDU3LTD - A stag bone handled trout pattern Ducks Unlimited issue with 24k gold etch trout pattern blade. Limited edition 500 pcs. 2002 I think.

And an assortment of Old timer and Uncle Henry folders, with an 897UH (with two NIB put back) as an EDC

Hi CRH: Nice find! As you already know, the model #498 was one of Schrade's “49ers” series of knives, and it was manufactured from 1973 until 1979. It was available as the 498S with stag handles and the 498L with leather-wrapped handles. The last suggested retail on the 498L in 1979 was $19.50. There were 8 different models in the 49er series.

Thanks for the info, gentlemen......... That's mine, second from the right in the add.

Err, sorry although I consider being a gentleman the highest compliment one man can give to another and appreciate your sentiment. UH FAN is a lady and a dang smart one. Not your fault but you should be aware.

Oops! Thanks for setting me straight there Lt. My humblest appologies to UH Fan. BTW, I just picked up another 498 in well used condition for a user! The mint one is being "lowered" to Queen status.......

Welcome to the site Shlelle! I have been having Schrade envy over that particular knife. Congratulations on the find! It is one beautiful knife. Perhaps someone can give us an idea of how many were made and post a pic? Pretty please? :D

Here's a cute little 18OT with the liner lock, does anyone know what the logo on this handle might be?

I have two of the 18OT but only one has this logo
Thanks

Newest edition is a 197UH which is basically an Uncle Henry version of the Old Timer 18OT shown above. Picked up off of ebay for about $9, it needs a good cleaning, a drop of oil, and a polishing/sharpening. Like most of my folders, this will go into EDC rotation.

I'm trying to find out if this is truely the marking on the knife. I'm pretty sure, but not 100%.

Anyone have any idea if they made a 004 ???

Any chance it's the 804. the 8 stamping looks like a 6,9,0 on a lot of the knives. Look further down in this thread for LT's posting and picture abou the S/W 804.
Let us know if that's the one and if not please post a picture or email to me and I'll post for you.
Have a great Holiday
Larry

I have the OT 12 and was wondering if anyone knows the nickname for this knife---or date of production? I thought it might be pre 1970 am not sure
Thanks
ptgramma

PTGramma,
The little 12OT is known as the PAL.
Production dates 1991-2004.
INfo from Robert CLemente's book.
Hope that helps..
LArry

I really must get Robert CLemente's book. Is it the one that most Schrader's rely on?
ptgramma

PTGramma,

Roberts book has the most detail on the OT and UH lines that I know of. The Schrade lines in total has yet to be completly covered in any one book.
Rich Langston does a great job on the Schrade and other switchblades in his book and Bernie Levine has a great section in his book(s) covering all the special editions Schrade has done over the years
Robert Clemente can be reached at schradeknifeowners@charter.net
Rich Langston is our own LT and can be e-mailed at lt632ret@frontiernet.net
Bernie is also available on the web at brlevine@ix.netcom.com
Other authors of note are Roy Ritchie and Ron Stewart(2 great books) and C Houston Price.
Hope this helps.
Larry
