What should a Bowie Knife be in 2026?

Another Non-Bowie :)

History and mythos aside, I think it would be fun to see a series of small 'Bowie' knives in 2026. I'm thinking sub 4" blade made for urban EDC, horizontal belt carry in a discreet leather sheath that looks more like a phone case--something that blends in at the office. Maybe a couple different clip-point styles and handle materials. Thin slicey grinds.

And yeah, it's kind of been done before (nothing new under the sun.) To wit, I present the magnificent three-finger design by Tom Krein (from the Boker Plus line)--the Pocket Bowie. It is one of the few China-made knives I have remaining in my collection.

Or you could just make a big bush knife with a clip-point out of (*insert steel-of-the day here) and call it a 2026 Bowie...

Anyway, good luck OP--I assume you're thinking of making a design of your own, and I look forward to seeing what you come up with! 😎👍

I call this one a "Pocket Fighter" but it was definitely inspired by several features found on "bowie" knives. Blade is a little over 3"

Might be an oxymoron , but maybe this one ?

One of my favs , either way !

This is the "original" Subway Bowie. Fred Perrin made this for me (as a surprise) while visiting him in Paris back in 1999. I named it "Le Metro" in honor of the Paris subway, which is where I wore it daily, (in my pocket), while traveling around Paris and environs.

2.5" to the plunge line.

Not sure which of the shots I just took is better, so I'm posting both:

I love my huge cable tang , purpose built for fighting , Bowies .

But for practical carry , "modern 2026 Bowie" might need to be a lot more compact and concealable . 🤷‍♂️

Ya nailed it.

I think that's the trend I'm seeing.

It makes sense since when the bowie was invented you had a muzzle loading flintlock pistol.

In 2026, CCW holders have been trending towards high capacity micro 9 mm red dots and lights.

Seems like something concealed or on a battle belt or ballistic vest is the current norm for actual carry.

Yeah, I like those Bowie's in the picture still, especially when you see those martial arts guys using them.

I know

I don't care

Just because he pronounced it stupid doesn't mean I'm going to. Lots of people pronounce their names wrong.

Any Wagner's here?

And hamon is ha-men. Or ha-moan

Either is fine

It doesn't matter

"Hah-mohn". ←wanker

I don't care. Neither should you

😁
