What should a Bowie Knife be in 2026?

Two Bowies :) (see Nathan's post above)

As per WTK / Reese: The inspiration for the V44X comes from the Marine Raider bowies from WW2, commonly known as a V44. Lt. Colonel Carlson procured many for the 2nd Raider Battalion.

Great job on the fillet!

Danke! I used the same knife to clean the deer and harvest the backstrap, I figured it deserved a taste of the finished product.

On topic: the knife is in 4V, which has worked put well so far. I like the wide, flat-ground levels as it provides a strong blade that slices well. The tip is pointy enough, but not fragile.

That knife is one of my Favorites I've ever had.
Mine had flaws, but I still saw it's excellent potential..... I had always hoped an American company would release a quality version.

I'm probably going to make an inspired version some day...
The g10 handle is a smooth solid grip shape. The 1085c is really tough. A nice distal taper towards the tip and down the handle. I didn't have to grind in my own convex edge, it came with it's own, and not too obtuse either. The leather sheath is sweet, and if you flip the one part of it upside down you can hook it into the side of your hip or something. Nice fit & finish on mine.

Some of my medium sized favorite Bowie interpretations:

Tom Krein, in my favorite steel:

Paul/CPE; I love that butt - very useful.

Lorien; a very agile knife, quick and comfortable in reverse as well:

I like fullers .... Here is an interesting slightly larger one from DanitzKnives with a "full-bevel" fuller :)

Mine was missing sheath, I had voids, maybe cracks in the micarta, and was bent.
Again, with everything you said....other than I felt the handle was uncomfortable....but still maybe one of the best knives I've bought.... If anything for a learning experience....that knife can Chop.
And it wasn't big. Perfect blade ballence.
Love.

I'll make one someday with one of My handles.
Someday.

It’s any steel that’s heat treated and made into a great knife lol but hey he said favorite steel.

I don't want to speak for him ....but if it's his first knife. It says PD1. Which is equivalent to Cruwear. Just different vendor
Which is also one of my favorites....now that they are gone, we might be seeing carpenter's version? Idk
Or maybe for volume/scale of economies... maybe we won't see as Many steel, MagnaCut might fill that void ..... Kinda similar. More stain resistant, but less tough.....but still running in similar circles. If you like one, you'll like the other

Didn’t even notice the PD1, probably should have looked closer lol. Thanks!

I see makers use zwear which I know is the same but idk who makes that or anything else.

Good to know!
