What started your ESEE Addiction?

For me it began with my quest to find a good no-nonsense general use fixed blade that had a sheath that didn't totally blow. Lo and behold, the RC-3 came into my sights at the cutlery shop I used to work at, and I played around with it for a while. After a couple of days I knew I had to have it. It was only later that I learned about the warranty and (more importantly) the caliber of the people behind the product. I've never looked back. Mike, Jeff, and the crew just make good honest stuff that works. I dig that. :)

My first Randall's Adventure Training experience was with one of my flight member's RAT-5's-this was about three years ago and the new company was still pretty new. I was adamant about applying for the monthly giveaway on the website. Suddenly I started seeing RC3's and RC6's being used on duty. I couldn't really justify it on an E-1's paygrade and was content with my SEAL Pup and Kabars. I pulled the trigger on an RC5 two Augusts ago, got the first run DPx HEST about a month later, and then the RC3 Rat Pack edition for Christmas. Mom's got a Junglas in the back of her closet, she says it's motivation for me to go back to Wisconsin for Christmas. A RAT-5 will be one of my next few knife purchases.

Hahaha, a junglas! good one! I was out with a friend, being an idiot really. When SHTF I only had a little benchmade folder. He had two att called rat cutlery knives, long story short, his experience and knowledge with the right tools, helped us.

I've been a buyer ever since. And the Esee line is my GO TO, knives, I do everything with them. There are plenty of great knives out there, some more expensive, some not so, but their brand here, is just fitting like a glove. I give izulas and esee 3's as gifts to family members, close friends. As well as maxped bags, and eberlestock bags to a few people. I love esee's products, but above that, their customer service. VERY rarely does a company stand behind products, or actually give a damn, to help customers with issues that come up.

Their warranty of No Questions Asked btw? I've never had to use, I have though been able to break 4 knives of theirs now lol. But of my own doing, one being a junglas. hahahahahahaa. But wont get into that ;) But you got a great knife. Now stop wasting time and pretending to be content with just the junglas. Get some of the others, your Junglas is lonellllay! lol. You've just taken a step into an addiction btw. GL on NEVER stopping. lol.

I blame it on the forum as well. I bought a 3, then reinstated my account with my distributor and now carry them on my site. Basically, I'm back in business because of ESEE.

I've always had knives, I just didn't know anything about them, like which steel is good for what, why have different lengths, styles, ect...

Then, a while back I decided to replace my EDC CRKT folding knife, which I hated, and bought a Gerber folder, since I liked the LMF II a lot. Not even a week later, I started having this feeling that I should be carrying a fixed blade instead of a folder. I started doing a little research and had pretty much decided on getting a TOPS knife, but doing a little more searching lead me to ESEE, then it was all downhill from there. Now I've found "reasons" for needing everything in their line.

The first ESEE I saw was an Izula, and I couldn't even tell you where it was. That led me to the ESEE web site. I've been on the forum for a while, so I came here and started learning. I've had all sort of knives from a few different makers, (first Gerbers, then Bucks, then Benchmades).

I decided the ESEE 3-MIL might be the right knife to take the place of my Benchmade Rant as my all-around fixed-blade walking-in-the-woods knife. Then I decided I wanted an Izula for my survival pouch, and finally an ESEE 5 (ordered, but not yet arrived), just because I like the idea of a really stout knife.

The idea of a knife maker that says it's Ok to use a knife hard, and will warranty it under the conditions, impresses the heck out of me. The repeated testimonials as to customer service impress me even more.

I wanted a camp knife and saw some vids on Youtube. Lots of praise on youtube and I didn't really have to worry about breaking anything as a noob. I started with a tan RC-3 and Izula last year. Got an OD Izula earlier this year because I wanted to try the scales and didn't want to remove the paracord wrap. Got the 6 a few months back to have something a little bigger than the 3.

the bk2 actually led me to esee. i still love the bk2, but in researching that knife, i found a similar knife with a far better sheath system and a warranty that can't be beat. still haven't pulled the trigger, but i will have an esee 5 and izula by the end of the year.

The Izula won me over as a small, well designed knife without all the "tacticool" features or unnecessary bells and whistle. Bought one, and realized how nice the blade is, and fell in love with ESEE knives. Followed it up with a couple other Izulas as presents, then a couple of 5's, a 6 with the pack, and the HEST.... and now, a HEST/F on order...

Have contemplated the Junglas... still contemplating, since the 6 is serving me so well right now (for camping, splitting wood for fire, etc.)... Rather spend the money on something I'd use more (another 6? 4?) than something just to have.

It all started for me at RoundHouse in Flat Rock NC when I actually got to handle an ESEE. I was impressed by the feel of the knife in hand. I researched the knives when I got home and came to the conclusion that it was a sound knife at a reasonable price, and backed by a solid warranty. I'd been wanting a good fixed blade for a while and had been considering neck carry. I just got my H.E.S.T. in the mail today and it happily adorns my neck. I'm very pleased.

God bless,
Adam

Um... The blonde chick in the old RC-3 add in TK magazine! Then starting hearing a lot of good things, then found these forums and ordered an RC-4. I'm a sucker for skull logos, too. Now my wife is my personal Esee model with her Izula, won't let me post the bikini pics tho( sorry Mike, lol)

Like many, I started with the Izula as it looked just so handy. Ive since purchased both the H.E.S.T. and the RC-3 MilCP. So far, Im on a roll and love each one individually. Last time I deployed I took the HEST. This time, in Jan, Im taking the 3. When I return Im thinking a Junglas or Machete as a reward will do me just fine.

Livesay RTAK and a Ontario 3. Also following the peru trips in magazines and online line for years. Also thought Jeff and Mike were good people. Once I meet them I knew. I myself have alot of plans for my ESEE knives in the future and plan to get more ESEE stuff.

When I joined BF , I kept reading these posts ; " Get the 4 ! Get the 4! " Well , when they finally came across the border, I jumped all over it. I ended up getting all the Esee's , and some spares of my faves ( still not done!)

Esee knives encompass everything I wanted in a heavy-duty outdoors knife. They have far surpassed my expectations in every model. And you guys and all the support are super as well

:)

An addiction? Hum? Well I can tell ya this. I had never even known about ESEE until I came to this forum. (Oh BTY is this thread turning into a confessional?) I had been testing many makers blades to see who *Really* had the bragin rights to a tough, hand friendly, backed up, and good looking funtions built in blade. In short I beat the tar out of 100s of blades over a LONG time. So as I like big blades, I tryed my 1st ESEE, the Junglas.!!!!! After using it way past what other blades may have snaped, chipped, bent, you name it, for 4 months of this each weekend, that dang ESEE Junglas could still pop some hair???? WHAT? I've worked with 1095 for over 30 years, and I have never seen it do THAT well. So I did what almost everyone else here did. Had to have More.!!! So I now own a 6, a fire kit, and am waitin for my Izula ll that should be done soon. And more to come in the future. The ONLY thing stoping me from owning them all, is I have to pay some Big bills. So addiction? Maybe the wize man who said "crack in the micarta" has it right? I can't truly tell why, but yeah...I want more of them. Hum? Go figure???;) Enjoy edgy

I was looking for a knife company that took no compromises and made a quality product and stood behind their product. ESEE fits the bill perfectly

I was watching a hard use test for my Manix 2 and stumbled upon the test from the guy NOSS on Youtube with the ESEE 4. I couldn't believe the beating it took and was further amazed when I went to look at the prices on the internet and they were reasonable. Can you believe it? Well that was what first peaked my interest they I discovered this forum... alas I am a weak man and have succumbed yet again to another "addiction" :)

It's not an addiction for me yet... I don't currently own one, but I'm currently saving up for 1+. What got me started looking was a trip into the BWCAW in MN. I was looking for a survival type knife. I got in on the pass-around for the RC5, and that's when I knew that I was going to get one... Unfortunately it's taken me longer than it should to get my first one. Life just gets in the way sometimes.
