What started your ESEE Addiction?

I actually don't have any ESEE knives (yet) but have been really crawling the ESEE section in the past couple months. Hopefully, this Christmas, the Izula-II will drag me into the wonderful ESEE world...

:eek: What are you waiting on....Christmas? That Izula II should be a sweet knife.

P.S. dont sniff the handles it goes straight to your head!:D[/QUOTE said:
So true so true:). The first time I handled mine I smelled the handles and I was like candy, oh my goodness! Lets just say it brought back good memories, and ever will:thumbup:.

I usually get a new knife for my birthday every year. I was looking for something that was high value. When I came across ESEE the search was over. There is nothing out there that offers what these guys do. I've had butterflys in my stomach since I got my first in October. My wife thought I was crazy at first. Blad spots on my arms and legs, smelling it, even falling asleep in front of the tv with it in my hand. Now she's even getting into it. An hour ago she said she would mind having an Izula. That's just what I need excuses to get more ESEE's...muhahahha!!

A friend at work turned me on to the HEST, I was sold!

I took that thing camping, what a great knife/tool. I stuffed some fishing line and a hook and a few waterproof matches in the handle and was set.

So of course I end up looking at the rest of there knives, after that I ended up with an OD RC-5, I dyed the Micarta green with Rit.

And followed that up with a desert tan Izula kit. I used one of the Izula wrap tutorials on here to do mine.

That's my Esee story in a nutshell, would love to add Junglas and Lite. Some one talk me out of the 4....please! I know I don't need it : )

Izula for me. And now I'm trying hard to have a HEST Folder by Christmas and I'm having to resist the temptation to buy a fixed HEST.

A lot of research: "Great looking knives at great prices backed by the best warranty in the business." I just have the 4 and the Izula but they're what I take with me every time I go hunting. Every time. If I lost either I would immediately replace it with the same.

To be honest, it was the enthusiasm of Mike's son [I can't remember his name though.. :o .] at BLADE 2010.... :D ... Seriously.

I had not given ESEE a real close look till then. Oh, I had read the Forum some and thought they were some pretty good knives... but I had a lot of good knives. So what was the big deal. :o

I stopped by the ESEE booth at BLADE though, just to glance.

He asked if I needed any help and I asked him to see one. He handed me an Orange Handled 3... to start.

Then........ he began to talk. :D [ I can honestly say I was impressed. :) ..]

He knew the specs of that knife backwards and forward. Then he began to pull the others out of the case one by one. He knew the specs on those also.

Before it was over he had the whole lineup........ lined up in front of me on the counter. :D

During all this I took a good close look at the knives & I was impressed.

I came home, studied the catalog a bit and ordered a 3 & IZULA kit. I picked up a 4 on the exchange here a few week later. Then I won a HEST on Facebook. Last was a couple of IZULA II's & a Lite Machete. Of course, the coming HEST/F is on my list.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot the 3 AH1's. ;)

Great knives and a great company IMO.

Y'all need to give Mike's son a raise......... :D ;)

I got started when I decided I needed a high quality EDC. I got tired of buying junk knives. So I did an internet search. I looked for about a month at all the different makers and came across the ESEE (back then RAT) website. I saw the RAT RC-3 (now ESEE-3) and I was hooked. I found a guy who had his for sale, I bought it and when I finally got it in my hands... well you know the feeling. The fit and finish of this knife was more than I hoped it would be. But these knives are kind of like popcorn... you can't have just one. So, then I got the RC-5 (now ESEE-5) and I'm planning on buying more.

I started w a junglas too but def want to keep going w more. I just got an izula1 and 2 today. If i can figure out how to post a pict I'll show you my junglas handle. I took my dremel and shaped the scales a bit and it turned out really well. I started off collecting one piece crk's, busse's etc. And though I love em, esee is really stealing my attention. 1095 sharpens awesome, theyre tough as nails and I can afford 2 or 3 for every stainless Ive bought. What a sickness this knife thing has become!
