What to do about dumbass gangsta wannabes?

Anyways, about two weeks ago, some norteños wannabes with a .22lr did a drive by shooting at a house two blocks from mine (f'ing pussies). The alarming part to me is that the neighbor of the gangster wannabe target was up and heard the shots at 0100 and came out to see what was going on. He yelled at the shooting wannabes that he called the police and they took two pot shots at him, striking the ground and his decorative walk lamp in the upright pole.

Long story short, we know that the "trouble" familia has a son who runs with some clique of twats who come into our neighborhood from "the wrong side of the drainage ditch" that separates their run down, crime ridden subdivision from our law abiding one like a pretty decent border because all of it is fenced off save for a city access point that these idiots use for infiltration and exfiltration of our neighborhood.

Short of setting up a L ambush for these fucks and sending them to an early and deserved grave so the other death-worthy abortions quit coming by to shoot at the local twerp, what should we do (within the bounds of the law and good taste) to either convince the problem familia to move on or to deny the ditch access to his homies?

Well, I took a seldom used Mossberg 500 out of the safe, took it to the range to work it out, and now it is hanging on hooks over the front door with 7+1 on tap with the first two rounds being 00 Buck and the last six being reduced recoil slugs. I decided that this is my weapon of choice against a car full of thugs. Now I have both the 500 and a 590A1 ready to rock in case of trouble.

Every generation says the same thing, yet the world keeps on going(and a new generation comes along to think that the country is lost).
 
Just to clarify -I am sure you all probably know this, but every american citizen has the right to defend themselves or others if they feel their lives are being endangered. So if the g-fags are shooting at your neighboors general direction (and your neighboor is innocent) you can shoot at the g-fags. You will have to go to court -but you will not be guilty of a crime.

I am not saying that is the solution by any means, but it is not going to land you in prison -especialy if you get those cameras.

So we are in a slow, downward spiral that spans several generations. Unless there is a dramatic turnaround, we will continue to lose our freedoms and basic rights. It saddens me.

I tend to see it as a cycle.
Things get worse, people get sick of it, make things better, then people get complacent, and the whole thing repeats.
So at some point there will be a dramatic turnaround; it just won't be permanent.
Hard to say what to do when one is stuck in the middle of an area going bad though, no matter how cyclical it is.
I guess I'd keep my head down, but remain armed in case the thugs tried targeting me.
Then move when the finances made it possible.

A shotgun is an excellent choice for self defense, particularly against multiple assailants. I prefer buckshot loads but there's nothing wrong with your decision to mix and match. :thumbup:

Whatever floats your boat... and sinks theirs. ;)
 
I seen a show on Discovery channel awhile back that showed different bullets that were shot through average walls of houses. The Birdshot went through more than 3 walls while the Buckshot did the best for home defense without going through more than 2 drywall "walls". Slugs, 40, 45 cal and 9 mm go through a lot of walls and hit items you probably didnt intend too nor want too.

I once worked with a man who told me a story about when he was young and living in a downtown neighborhood. The time frame must have been in the fifties or early sixties. He and his family were upstanding minorities in a rapidly declining area of a major southern city. He was beaten and tormented by the criminal element in the adjacent home. He told me about the night that his family member was beaten and almost killed because of a violation of the elemental rules.
My friend explained what he would have done if he ever had the proof needed to be sure of the identities of the people involved.

You have to know the structure of the dwellings involved to get a clear picture of what he told me, but most folks understand how old southern houses without foundations were built. They have a footings and a crawl space with various supports on footers as needed.
He said that he would have taken some old liter coke bottles and some road flares to the crawl space and attached them to the column supports. The road flares could burn long enough to allow smoke to infiltrate the dwelling and warn the occupants of trouble, but would ignite the gas filled bottles on the columns long before the fire department could arrived. These old stick built houses would go up like a Roman Candle on the 4th of July.
He never said that this happened, and I didn't dig any deeper.

I want the buck and slugs to go through something. The precipitating crime of this thread was a drive by shooting from a car.

Shotgun slug versus a 25 lb slab of 1 and 1/4 inch polycast acrylic after .22lr, 9mm, .45ACP, 5.56mm, 7.62x39 and 7.62x51 failed to penetrate it.

You have the basic; some say God given, right to defend yourself. But our government has the means to remove you from society, natural, God given law be damned.

I was only talking about our legal rights in America. I supose if the neighboor was guilty of crimes against the g-fags then you may not be clear to defend the neighboor with force -since he is not innocent. But if the neighboor was innocent so are you in defending him/her.

I am not sure what you mean to say? -Like a sort of government abuse of power via the control of dominant force combined with erradication of rule of law, and at the same time no press coverage? This does not seem likely.

If you want something more lethal, get a rifle/pistol/something that's accurate, and if you feel like you need to use it after the paintball gun, fire a few shots at the ground around them to tell them you're not going to take it. Otherwise, throw some smoke bombs/small homemade m80's at them.

Warning shots, assault and battery, and making homemade explosives...this is the worst advice ever. The best advice is to move. The next best is to arm yourself and coordinate w/ local LE...
