All this talk of hickory nuts makes me want to try them. It looks like an off year for pecans here. The neighborhood trees are dropping them green, so we probably won't have many good ones fall next month. The squirrels are frantically eating anyway. I don't know if that means we're in for another cold winter, or they're just traumatized from last year's big freeze. Can we have two "once in a century" winters in a row? I wouldn't be surprised.
Is it Wednesday again?

Rachel, I never really wanted an esquire until I saw yours. Now It's towards the top of the list, I blame you for that!

Harry gave me this lambfoot. Very well made knife, and a good wood companion to this old Camillus TL-29.54C9C515-4948-441D-9A10-2C34C3787E58.jpeg

Growing eats on a much, much smaller scale than the professional farmer above.
A little cool season stuff coming along ~ romaine, cilantro, and spinach, among other things.9D904DEA-3BB0-4EE7-AFBE-DA60B7D86FF6.jpeg7377A3A3-9F9E-40AF-B060-04C930817483.jpegTotin a svelte little Wenger today. They called it the Classic 66. It was one of their “basic” line, which is a marketing term for “our cheapest”. Clues are the painted rather than inletted cross, and the lack of toothpick and tweezers.85090390-8714-4C2F-B6EE-096A85539CA2.jpeg

Went with the cattle knife again. Some fog this morning, hoping the beans picked up a little moisture.
Love those photos. It looks just like what’s happening around here now.
Question about hoping your beans pick up moisture ~ is that to reduce the dust behind the combine? When the combine is close to the road, sometimes the cloud of soybean dust makes drivers slow down. I’s imagine it’s brutal for you guys.
Trying to figure who gets carried today.

I need to know how big your pockets are first.
Thank you. It's something that always irritated me

BIGFOOT found!! Etched A2 mini zulu in old ivory Westinghouse micarta by Charlie Bell. Makes me want to get out in the woods and whoop! Mammoth buddy by yours truly using Charlie's pantograph, only broke one carbide bit.
