My wife requested the first gumbo of the season for today. It’s still a bit warm. But, for me, it’s one if the 4 food groups (gumbo, jambalaya, hamburgers, tacos). I could eat it dead of summer. Anyway. I air fry chickens over the summer and do 2 at a time. Each time, we eat one and freeze the other. Yanked it out and tossed it in. Today’s jewelry is a Jim Dunlop improved trapper. But the work was done by a gec bunkhouse parer and an original American knife works chefs knife. It’s a big slab of w2 that isn’t so hard that it chips if it hits a bone, so it’s my go-to for anything meat related! Amd it’s so dadgum comfortable, not to mention one of the prettiest chefs knives I’ve ever seen, in my opinion.

And some of you probably want to see the gumbo…

Yours is the baseball slip that inspired me to get one. I couldn’t remember who’s it was. Thanks for posting it again, it looks great.![]()
Unfortunately my Mom passed away last week, so I’ve been preoccupied. I carried this #92 to AL with me, and I’m still carrying it today.
Absolutely sad to hear about your Mom. I lost mine several years ago at what I thought was a much too young age. My girls and I still talk about her regularly. One thing that always comes up is when we are in the mountains on a narrow road. My mom loved to come out and see the mountains but didn’t like heights, especially when she was on the downhill side of a steep road. Whenever we are on one now, one of the girls will always say “Grandma Linda would not be happy right now!!” It’s good to think of them often…hang in there.
I have a small bottle of some habanero concoction that’s somewhere between napalm and nuclear fusion on the heat index.I went to my mother's house and we made some gooood hot sauce. We used 35 serrano peppers and 20 chocolat ghost peppers.

LOLI have a small bottle of some habanero concoction that’s somewhere between napalm and nuclear fusion on the heat index.
I used it to try to deter our old Boston Terrier from digging under my gate. It didn’t work. But mixed with water and sprayed around my beans, I got mixed results on repelling rabbits!
I’m scared to even open the bottle in the kitchen because the smoke alarms scare Manny the dog.
Very nice knife Paul . Thank you for bringing back memories of Bob . I did not know him nearly as long and well as you , and many others , but he was what I considered a Good Guy . I wish that I knew as much about knives as Bob forgot . He was always easy to help and or suggest . Memories my friend , memories .btb01 Thanks Barrett and man am I hungry lookin at the meal ya got there
I agree about those Farmboys, under rated is right, they're great knives.
Carried this one today. Got it from Bob several years back. Think of him often and more so when the Patriots play. His daughter Lan and I just txt back n forth when Brady went back to Foxboro.
So carried this today, thinking of my friend and friend to so many here.

This spoiled girl gets a whole apple to herself every night!Great picture of your #44![]()
Looks like my pup when I'm cutting apples... he always gets a few pieces for doing such a good job of supervising![]()
Thank you, Tyson.
I enjoy your photo shop pictures... they are very fun.![]()
That's a beauty, jack.
It deserves to be carried more often.. but you have many knives that deserve it and only so many pockets.![]()
Definitely try! They’re great for dogs, my girl also gets carrots, blueberries to name a few but an apple a night is a must for her. She’ll go wait in the kitchen in the dark alone until I come find her to make sure she gets her apple!Nice arsenal of fixed blades.
The elderly farmer I used to work for used to have a deer camp in Wisconsin. He has a Schrade 8OT that dressed out all of his deer. The blades have been sharpened down to slivers.
Better keep an eye on that whittler, or might be tempted to swipe that shield.
I bought a 294 jack from that same anniversary series that’s missing the shield. I don’t know what that shape of shield is called, but it kind of looks like a mortar projectile.
Great scales on your stockman
Is that a game cam? At first I thought Jason Voorhees upgraded his hockey mask.
Speaking of short daylight, now I have to wait for the sun to take an outdoors knife shot.
I’m going to see if Manny will eat apples. I cook up chicken breast to mix in his food and try to mix in some veggies too. As long as the vegetables are mixed with meat or a little fat, he’ll eat them.
Nice old Russel! The bone is spectacular.
Thanks Harry, miss our friend Ron as well, yet time marches onVery nice knife Paul . Thank you for bringing back memories of Bob . Carried these yesterday for Thifty Thursday, (less than 25 bucks combined!)but got busy and didn't take a pic. So I figured I'd carry them over for Black Friday![]()
One sharpened edge on the choil side, one unsharpened swedge that’s quite comfortable to place thumb or index finger against on the side closer to the BF knife.Does it have two edges with different sharpened angles?
Because if it only has the one edge (with the prominent bevel, toward the BF knife) ...
