What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Fury vs Wilder did not disappoint. Some much needed entertainment after having to skip out on blade show due to the flu 🥲. Been fondling this great set since completing it. I have a feeling the BF 21’ #86 is going to become the user from this run solely because it’s 1095 carbon steel. Really wish the 2AB’s were as well. Part of the fun with these traditionals is watching it patina for me.

Rough Rider canoe and a Case 47 whittler in the pockets today. It'll be all fixed blades for me this coming week as I head to the Northwoods tomorrow for a hunt with a couple of Mich. friends. We'll get plenty of exercise tromping around the forest along the beautiful Au Sable River and will eat well around the campfire each night. Bringing plenty of groceries though as game is sparse where we're going,..... at least that what we tell ourselves when we have no luck. :)

I thought you where Bobby Dylan for a minute.

I had a job in the great north woods
Working as a cook for a spell
But I never did like it all that much
And one day the axe just fell

The barlow has never really spoken to me much but I really like the green micarta one. Looks traditional enough but with subtle modern touch!

The past week was quite busy (and soggy) for me, so I'm way behind in this thread! Hoping to catch up today.

5K Qs 5K Qs ~ I agree. More personality, or aspirations of it, when you’re a name, not a number.
Yes, it’s the Harvester or Pioneer Harvester.
The 7 comes from it’s seven alleged functions, three of which they get out of one blade ~ screwdriver, bottle opener, and wire stripper.
Thanks for the info on your Alox SAK, Jeff.:):)
I could keep straight differences between Farmer and Electrician, for example, but I'm really struggling to remember the differences between, say, a Swiss Army 5 and 8 (if those are even valid model numbers).

Something a little different for me today.
Have a peaceful Sunday!

That one IS different, Gary; really cool the way the butt of the knife is made to look like a coq's head! 🤓:cool:

Headed back to Minnesota, but on my way out of town I had to stop and take this photo. This restaurant is just down the street from my mom’s house. 😁

Cool photo, Barrett; I may have to take a 12-hr road trip to get a photo with my $5 Klaas sodbuster! 🤓🤓

I wanted to say thank you, but it doesn’t seem enough...
You brought a smile, and a laugh, thanks for all that stuff.
...
Thanks for the pure poetry, John!:thumbsup:🤓

Thanks GT, all I need is a Russian traditional and I can call that group the "Allies" I'll need an Italian knife and a higonokami knife to add to my German traditionals to counter balance them 😮
That would be an interesting approach to building an accumulation of knives, David! 🤓:cool:
Buy knives from countries so that you could "re-enact" historical events from the national combinations.

I always enjoy seeing the Constant Quartet. 👍
Thanks (and thanks for your contribution to that set).:thumbsup::)

Well Jim, that's not too bad! All I caught was a sunburn. I am not complaining though, it's always a treat to spend time outdoors.

Good-looking Case butterbean! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

You could get by fine with nothing more than those. Of course, you’d be craving a canoe...
Correct on both counts, Jeff! ;)
I could probably get by with just ONE of those, given that I survived fairly successfully from 1970 to 2014 carrying no pocket knife.
On a recent daily walk, I was contemplating adding a canoe to the EDC, or trading out one of the current 4 knives for a canoe. But which knife would get demoted, and which canoe would move to the honored quartet??

Thanks, Gary. I have one inside, too, so it’s not out getting weathered. This talk of my Grandpa’s corn sign prompted me to carry a corn seed knife of his that I got after he died. I don’t tend to carry it for fear of losing it, but I was mostly at home today working in the yard and watching baseball, so I figured it was safe. It’s a cool little modified stockman pattern with my Grandpa’s name on the other side.

That's a fantastic memento of your grandfather!:thumbsup::cool:
I don't remember my Dad getting anything from the seed corn salesmen than little pocket notebooks and little pencils that looked like this, but with seed corn company writing on them.

Thank you Gary :) I'm sorry, but your story made me laugh so much, talk about different times! A couple of centuries before we were born, fathers used to take their sons to country fairs and fight them with cudgels, so perhaps we got off lightly! :D ;)
Glad a story of my misguided youth could amuse you, Jack! 🤓:thumbsup: My brothers and I would always start our boxing competitions with intentions of clean, fair, and honorable sibling rivalry, but an accidental illegal punch to the head usually turned the match into a raging brawl. I would not have liked to fight my Dad with cudgels in public (unless maybe he'd take on all 3 of his sons simultaneously).

It's always a treat to see your Eternals Gary :)
Thanks, Jack. :)

These two today

2AB and an Imperial Navy Utility

First-class pair, Steve; I'm admiring all the navy knives that seem to be showing up recently!:cool::thumbsup:

That's a splendid pen knife!! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

Today's Random Tuesday carry is an old Imperial Easy Open, a gift from @t.willy . I made a fancy fob for it.

Another of those iconic navy knives; grand example, Rachel!:thumbsup::cool:

So, after getting stellar results Rit-dyeing my creamsickle colored nightmare tribal lock, I thought I’d dye a medium trapper that didn’t have the most wonderful bonestag covers. Same dye, same bottle

And here’s the stockman

Strangely, the stockman came out black and the dye didn’t take on the sides of the bone…
Weird stuff.
I like it though, I’m gonna carry it today,
AND I’ve learned that I can’t bitch about Case’s
( or GEC’s) wonky colors. Natural materials don’t always do what ya want them to.
Those turned out really well!:thumbsup::cool:
You make a good point for me to keep in mind since I'm often somewhat disappointed with the dye on Case's jigged bone.

Fab foursome Gary :)
I appreciate your encouragement, Jack. 🤓

Thanks Gary. It is a pretty neat knife. I like the rooster's head too.
I'm thinking of giving it to my youngest son. He and his wife recently built a chicken coop, and are now enjoying the eggs that are the fruits of their labors. One of their hens turned out to be a rooster. They awoke one morning to his crowing. Of course he's no longer a resident of the coop.
