What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

We are close to the blade tip. Yesterday, we set the gps to try to find Amicalola Falls, but only a mile down the road, saw a sign pointing up a track into Chattahootchie National Forest saying Swinging Bridge on Toccoa River, so up we went.

Amir Fleschwund Amir Fleschwund I recognize that map! I'm from that area and I get back to it often. Shoot, I've even got the park cap. It's been years, but I've been on that very swinging bridge. There's plenty to see around there, I hope the rest of your trip goes great.

🌶️🌶️ Yes they are hot. the chocolat ghost pepper are really hot, around 1 000 000 scoville. the jalapeno are around 8000 scoville. I grew 5 varieties outdoor this summer and they were all very good, very tasty and hot, i made sauce with all of them. I mix hot and sweet peppers, oil, vinegar, sea salt, maple syrup, spiced rhum, garlic and tiny tomatoes from my garden. so delicious 👍✌️
Very cool! I did my first fermentated hot sauce in the early summer with some fresno peppers and it came out very delicious. I've never heard of maple syrup or spiced rhum (as in rhum agricole or did you mean normal spiced rum?) but some sweetness with the heat would be fantastic, I'm sure!

But I like to keep track of the days if only to help in knife choices. Not having a Wood Whittler, I had to take one of each.View attachment 1659438We are close to the blade tip. The road was four or five miles, and was just about at the limit of where you should try taking a rental Chrysler Pacifica mini van, but we arrived at road’s end without getting stuck or banging up the van. Then it was an hour or so hike to get to the river. Quite worth it, and I was proud of my daughter. Between knee surgery and wonky depth perception, she can be unsure of her footing. But she did great. Here she is on a chair carved out of a big ‘ol log on the trail. View attachment 1659452And here’s the river from the bridge. My photo fails to capture just how violent and powerful that water looks. It’s really impressive. If I lived around here, I’d fish it often.
There was a guy out in it fishing, just to the right of the post in my photo. He didn’t really look like he knew what he was doing, and actually almost fell several times. A+ for effort, though!View attachment 1659440Gotta go. Girls finally woke up and want French Toast.
Looks wonderful and wonderful to see your daughter enjoying a hike (my daughter enjoys hikes too). My son lives in Blue Ridge, just north of town on White Oaks, we love visiting there. I’ve fished around the marina ramp in Lake Blue Ridge (caught Red Eye Bass on spinning gear) one October morning.

Ed, I have a LONG time habit of saying, ‘Go Army, Beat Navy!’ But for today I’m saying GO NAVY! In your honor and in honor of two uncles who served in the Navy - my Uncle Charles, a Naval Aviator in WW-II and my Uncle Howard, an Electricians Mate in the early 1960’s. OH

Ps this post needs a Navy Knife in the picture - my two WW-II Imperial Navy-Coast Guard jackknives. I’ve gone and put the gumfuddy handled one in my pocket.

Looks like you're leading the Forum Knife Patina Contest. 🤠
What ever knife I'm carrying John see's a lot of Apple action. I've got a bad gut and fiber is my friend :) and these apples (what ever they are) are truly the best I've ever had. The saying "An apple a day keeps the doctor away" is something I adhere to, I even double that most days ;)
