What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

...
Three interesting knives there GT, I always enjoy seeing your Colonial, and that Case is a stunner  I don't think I've seen that RR Melon Tester on sale over here, it'd make a good Sausage Stabber too! :D ;)

After seeing Jack Black Jack Black 's US Navy jack beauty, I grabbed mine; throwing in the Abalone Sowbelly. :)

Thanks for the positive feedback, Jack. :) Your "Sausage Stabber" remark made me realize that I missed a near-perfect photo opportunity yesterday. I took a photo of a 2-pound, 14" summer sausage with my Victorinox folding paring knife, but I could have used my RR melon tester/sausage stabber instead! o_O 🤓

You have wonderful navy knives, Jack & JJ, two of many posted in the past couple of weeks!:thumbsup::cool: They're becoming irresistible!

😁😁 I have to say, I’m glad no one went that route in the Earl and Pearl threads. 😉
I agree, Barrett.:) But Earl and Pearl were knives that came to visit some of us in our home locations and we took them around to some of the local sites, while I'm contemplating whether taking my Black Angus sodbuster to a relatively remote location just for a photo with a related steakhouse is worth the investment of resources.

2AB and a KK Cattle knife :)
...
Splendid pair, Steve; that Keen Kutter Kattle Knife is a Knockout!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I carried this Frontier serpentine jack. It was thoughtfully gifted to me by @315 after some talk of the Dekalb signs I have from my Grandpa’s farm.
...
It’s got the cool blade etch to match the signs.
...
Congrats on the Frontier jack with the enchanting etching, and kudos to Jim for his generosity!:cool::thumbsup:

... Carrying my Hartshead Barlow, and an Old Friend today :)

Your stag HHB and ebony TC are fitting tributes to the fertile minds of a couple of our most illustrious Porch People, Jack!:cool::thumbsup:

Very cool knives this week Gary. They all look very picturesque to me!😎👍
Todd stole my comment, so I had to go with something else. 😜
I see what you did there, Todd, and what you were going to do there, John, and I appreciate it! 😁 🤓

Sunrise in NH with the Gec 21

Such a great sunrise shot for this thread!:cool::cool:

I still wish they had done one of those with a different blade. 🤠
It's a desirable little knife, and would probably work with any blade shape. I really should assign it, as is, to a week or two of kitchen duty so I can learn some of the pros and cons of the cotton sampler blade.

Not-so-fancy Friday
...
Not so fancy, but definitely fascinating!:thumbsup::cool:

Have another pair from my maternal grandfather today. I have posted before, but he was a farmer, and a hard working one. All of the knives I have from him are well worn, and I love them for that. They remind me of his character every time I look at them. From what I can tell, the 8ot was the last knife he purchased, as it is in the best shape. The boker has seen better days, but the blade that's left is still sharp! Happy Thursday to the Porch.
...
Received this one from my grandmother several years ago. Apparently, it belonged to her brother and he carried it every day. They and their other siblings all spent their entire lives in Texas, so I guess it's fitting he carried a Texas toothpick.

You gents are fortunate to have those priceless family heirlooms!:thumbsup::cool:

Check out day. 881Y and a jack by Emil Voos.View attachment 1660738People in Georgia are really nice. And they really try to accomodate folks with disabilities.View attachment 1660739I don’t drink, but so many of you include alcoholic beverages in your photos, this is for you.
Judging by the name, it’s probably pretty rank swill.
View attachment 1660740One of the two waterfalls we hiked to yesterday. One was level, following a creek along a valley floor, but was muddy.
The other wss steeply uphill and a tangly mess of roots and rocks. Once again, I was very proud of my daughter.

More engaging photos; thanks, Jeff!:thumbsup::thumbsup: Did your daughter enjoy the waterfalls after the challenging walks reach them?
Your accommodation remark and photo cracked me up! 😁 🤓

Notable pair, José!! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Terrific trio Gary, I bought one of those small Cotton Samplers for a friend's kid recently
Thanks, Jack. :) Have you received any feedback on the gift?

I have these with me today for Black Friday. 😊 🏴‍☠️View attachment 1660823
Gold stars for your Black Friday choices, young man! 🤓:thumbsup:

Never knowingly under-knifed! :D ;)
Looks like a more than adequate woods-walking trio, Jack!:cool::thumbsup:
And thanks for the pithy words to live by! ;) (I see many fake headstones in Halloween decorations folks have set up along the streets I use in my daily walks, so I'm thinking your quote could be a fine epitaph, too! 😲)

It's been awhile since I have been here, I stopped collecting for a few years and just used what I had. But on a recent trip to Pennsylvania, I decided to stop by GEC and picked this up. I was told it was the last one and it has an 'S' stamped on it, but I can't find anything wrong with it. I had forgotten what it was like to pop open the tube when you get a new GEC knife. Man how the landscape has changed with the popularity of GEC lately, but I'm sure that gets discussed here enough already. Going go carve a pumpkin with kids tonight, still enjoy the pics everyone posts and have great weekend.

Welcome back, and congrats on that handsome acrylic Conductor!:cool::cool:

BF Rope knife and a new to me Queen Barlow
...
Congrats on the well-preserved Queen Barlow, with its beautiful bone and unique bolster shape!:thumbsup::cool:

Have these in pocket today. I hope you all are doing well. This thread moves so quickly I feel like I need to be retired to be able to follow in a timely fashion. Haha. 😉

I'm officially retired, and I can't seem to keep up any more! o_O 😁

Thank you my friend :D :)
Thanks, Jack. :) Have you received any feedback on the gift?
I've put it away for her birthday next month :) She has been asking me for a knife for a while, as I have given her older brother a few. I asked her if she'd like a SAK. She thought about it briefly, then said, "No, just a pocket knife please." :D I got her the version with daisies :)

The English carry,I took my Victorinox cadet into town.
visited a few antique shops nada of interest, lots of people milling around town.

Back home first I listend to the Everlys and now Chess masters blues (with Ian Curtis looking on).
I only play vinyl at home nowadays and CDs in the car.

Johnny hates jazz, but loves the blues.

I am not a huge fan of most traditional knives as there don't seem to be many with pocket clips and I don't like knives to sit in the bottom of my pocket with my change and other crap. But, my awesome daddio gave me this Case XX Kickstart w/ Orange Peel scales a couple years back and I carry it every now and then. I like the really tiny Case XX knives also like the Tiny Trapper, Pocket Hunter, Baby Butterbean but I never carry them. Y'all have a nice day.

Thank you kindly, Jack!!! That's very cool! :)
