Another beautiful morning and another fireside photo. This time with my new small Texas Jack. It arrived yesterday afternoon. Can’t show the blade yet, it’s still “naked,” needs some patina!

Chestnut bone and patina…water and photos…these things are made for each other.

I didn't know that pattern was available in chestnut jigged bone; I'll have to rethink my opinion on Texas jacks. I've always loved the shape of the Texas jack pen blade, but I've gradually become quite prejudiced against square-bolstered knives and almost never buy them any more. But the appeal that CV chestnut jigged bone has for me probably trumps that bolster prejudice!

I have been following that advice also since I read so many people on the annual bladeforum knife thread saying, and I am paraphrasing, that there are so many trivial comments from people who do not contribute. But so many great knives and interesting posts that I feel compelled to join in.

I appreciate your encouragement, Dave. I tend to be quite tolerant of any comments people want to contribute; if I don't like a comment or think it's trivial or whatever, it's easy enough to just scroll past it. If all I want is knife photos with no exchange of opinions, I can just go to dealer sites.

Thanks Gary. I didn’t know it came in Chestnut either, it just popped up and I snagged it. A couple days later it’s big brother popped up so I snagged it too! Things tend to come in bunches.

I have neither of these 2 patterns, but one thing that always comes to mind when looking at a knife photo here, is “could that serve as my only knife?” Either of your pair probably could. Well, ok... along with a Swiss Army knife or maybe an electrician!
