What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

This fine 3 5/8" stockman by Bill Ruple:

I like how that stockman uses a coping blade, rather than a sheepsfoot. Nice configuration.

Call me the slipjoint cheapskate. I'm carrying a new Epray purchase. I snagged an old Ulster-made Craftsman scout knife pattern for cheap. I cleaned it up a bit last night. Just a toothbrush with dish soap, and some WD-40 afterward. And a bit of reel oil on the springs and joints.

It's in great condition. I doesn't look like the blade had ever been sharpened, yet everything has a nice patina on it. Walk and talk is as good as any modern camp knife in my collection. The knife blade took an absolutely wicked edge.

Nice knife for a cheapie. You say that it's never been sharpened, but the blade and those tools have a pretty good patina. Do you think it's been used?

Who knows? The tools have plenty of patina on them, but the blade had no real edge to speak of, and there were no signs of previous sharpening, other than the factory edge, which was minimal to say the least. Other than some dings on the bolsters and the bail, and the patina, the knife looks cherry.

I put my Tinker in my pocket this morning.

Then at 10:30 the mail came and droped of a bunch of knives. I put this one right in my pocket.

Today I changed several times. I started out with my SAK Huntsman and my SAK OH PE Sentinel w/ clip. A Case Stockman and a Buck Canoe. Then I went to my Explorer Plus and the Sentinel. I used the Sentinel to cut up my steak for dinner. Used the Buck Canoe to cut up strawberries for my yogurt.

Real proud of this one, given to me by a generous forumite. A fistful of stockman. Schlieper 4 1/4 inch carbon steel (forged I believe).

(BTW-I kept my promise;))

GEC #25 again. After reading the discussion about etchings on the GEC barlow, I used the polishing wheel for my dremel and some polishing compound and buffed out the etchings on the main blade. Of course, it also removed the patina that was building up so now I have to start it over though the blade is etching free now.

I'm happy to report that I'm still carrying my AG Russell pocket carver/revers congress daily. I love this knife!!!
