What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

These were taken last night in Edwardsville by a lady that works with my wife. Pretty amazing photos. View attachment 1699827View attachment 1699828
They are amazing photos, our thoughts and prayers going out to those affected. 🙏
Wow! Do you have one of those complete sets, Dave? Every time I use an Opinel, I wonder why I'm messing around with all kinds of other knives.:cool::thumbsup:

I do Gary, thanks! 1 is a user and the other...?...er... I like knives more than money? They are great users.

I asked my wife if she could coordinate the decorations with my stag knives. She is so thoughtful :D

I grabbed these two for a Sheffield Saturday and a Double Lambsfoot Day. :)
Nice pairing for your Double Lambsfoot Day JJ :)
Fifty degree swings aren't too unusual this time of year, but it can play havoc on the sinuses.
I bet! Here, our daytime temperatures have been down in the 30's recently
Thank you Jack! You were the inspiration for it. 👍
Thank you :)

My heart goes out to all those affected by the devastating tornados  Terrible thing :(

Wishing everyone a relaxing and peaceful Sunday

Like the old school coffee pot. Hopefully power is restored soon

Nice wall ornaments as well
Thank you! Old stuff works.
Yes, once they found it, they got to work and had it fixed fast. Only out about five hours.
The thing is, and this is not the first time, I went and found the downed line, but thanks to their automated phone system, there’s no way to speak to an actual human to tell them. So I call the sheriff, who’s dispatcher gets the fire department on the line, and they get word to the power company.
And it is always somewhere along a mile and a half stretch of road where there’s a lot of what I call trash or weed trees that need to be cut out.
Jeff love that sodbuster. The older and more used it gets the better it looks.
Thanks, Dave. Just like us, right?
Fninaly made a decent picture of my Panama.

They’ve really put some style into that. Very nice.
As usual, I'm a geezer living in the past, this time commenting on some posts from last weekend.

Nice pair of knives, Jeff, with an impressive total of blade inches!:thumbsup::cool:
You need to "correct" the tang stamp on your big Case Sodbuster by changing the "2" to a "5" to reflect the handle improvement! 🤓

I like sowbellies, including your crimson peach seed bone model!:thumbsup::thumbsup: And I'm pretending that the flora on your Christmas knife is mistletoe, not holly, since I really don't know the difference between the two plants and it's so APT to have kissing cranes with mistletoe! 😁

Your small Texas Jack makes a BIG impression, Todd!:cool::thumbsup:

I like to think I'm a pretty sensible guy who follows the dictates of reason, but when it comes to my knife life, logic is pretty much out the door! o_O ;)

All are Good Dogs! 🤓:thumbsup:

I got the reference, and I also really like that song, although overall I'll go with The Temptations over the Four Tops.:cool::thumbsup:

Jack & John, I couldn't agree with you more! :) I'm so fortunate that Jeff offered me that "historic" knife!:cool::cool:

Outstanding matching bone on that pair, Steve!!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

You're right, Bart. :) And I like the size of this model much better than Case's other pen knife, which is barely over 2.5" (and has square bolsters, that don't grab me).

I like the Morse code! 🤓 I'll admit that meal is not very visually appealing, but I actually like it. I'll go on record as enjoying liver and onions, and shepherd's pie too, a couple of other meals whose reputation is not very good.

Splendid pair, John! :cool::thumbsup::cool:
I should get an example of a Case knife with bonestag handles, and a medium stockman would be a good pattern (except I sure wish Case didn't make it with the sheepsfoot riding so high that the tip is above the liners).

Congrats on the new-to-you knife; looks like a useful one!

That's a BIG tree and an industrial-strength tree stand, Todd!! 😲 🤓

Your red Old Cross Farmer is a gem that's earning its keep!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Sensational "heritage" knife, Todd! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

You write the truth, John & Jack! :)

Thanks, my friend! And your multiquoting skills remain impressive. I usually manage to delete headers, so they run together...

Mrs. Crappie was watching Hallmark movies
I actually enjoy the Hallmark movies.
I don't mind when my wife watches them, I actually find myself watching along with her.
They aren't overly romantic and sappy, and they are all feel-good types of movies.
Plus I love all the small towns they take place in, makes me wish I lived in them.
That's a great picture of your Forum Barlow, Jack. 🤠
Always great to see your Valley Jack, GT. 🤠

Wish that was true.

Sorry for the second post, but here’s a little garden update.5FED9F7F-FCBF-4A5B-B4D7-79105C977309.jpegHere’s what’s left:
In ground beds~ some very stunted lettuces that aren’t growing, but aren’t dead, a 30 x2 ft row of arugula that I’m going to trample flat for green manure mulch, a few baby beets planted in October after pulling my onions, which escaped my intended final harvest-it was getting dark- and are remarkably still alive.
Carrots. I’ll just leave them be because their deep roots are great for worm and microbe food. Incidentally, the much maligned dandelion is good for that. Their deep roots help loosen the soil, insects and microbial life break them down, and fungal life is able to bring minerals to plant roots. Plus, dandelion is about as nutritious as anything one can grow, and is good raw in salad.

Raised beds~
Spinach, which I figured was done, so I cut at the base for salad. Bunch of new growth from the crowns... If I were to leave them be, those crowns would immediately start growing after snow melt, and would be my first garden produce of next season.
Kale. Getting tired of it, may chop it up for the compost piles.
Leeks. Good Lord, leeks. Guess I’d better open some of those quarts of stock I canned last month and make more soup?
Green onions, like this one. Pretty soon, I need to pull these and get them into the refrigerator.

I plan on dismantling the raised beds to extend some of the in ground beds.
The material from the raised beds, stone blocks and 2x10s, is going to make one long raised bed in which I’m going to plant a mix of annual and perennial herbs, both for cooking, as well as to attract pollinators and predatory insects which will help keep pest insects from eating my food.
Thanks for reading, if you made it this far...
