Very punny, Todd. Thank you, it took me some time to track down a micarta 74, but I'm glad I was able to get one. It was my KOTY last year. Thanks guys, the bead was a perfect match. The Boxer has been on my radar for awhile since I saw Gordon @OldHercDude post his ironwood. I’ve been holding back but finally decided to throw the punch. (Oh man, I may lose my membership for that one!)
Those two look fantastic together Jeremy, love the brown burlap Micarta.
The blade is CV so I mixed up a little lemon juice, vinegar and mustard and put little drops on the blade. I saw a You Tube video about getting a patina like that. And I was inspired by seeing other folks do a patina like that here on the forum. I forget how long I left the drops on the blade. Not long though maybe 10 minutes? I did it twice on each side. I think if I put less dots each time I would have done three layers which would look better. It was fun to do and I didn’t strip any screws which I have done messing with other knives which is no fun.Very cool looking blade unclekurty. Can you tel us more about it?
I never knew. Would there be anything one can do about that? Except for sending it back.Oh, really?!That's annoying, but they're not the only cutler to release a knife like that, the first GEC #15s had similar issues

Thanks John. They did compliment each other quite well. That pair is amazing.
It's like a perspective of opposites.
Hopefully that isn’t the “kiss I’d death.”
GO BUCS!![]()
Thanks Todd. Your Bucs did quite well. Hopefully you have a great time watching the game next week with your sonNice setup Jon, Go Chiefs!![]()
Thanks John. It was a win win last nightGood luck to your Chiefs.
Knives and Meat... you're already a winner.
Yup, it’s a 78 and thank youGreat looking 78 and great stag, I always admire it, (Hope I got it right)
Thank you, Todd. That’s a beautiful White Owl John, nice and dark with good contrast at the bolsters.
Thank you, Jack.it's nice to see your White Owl again
I've also had my Lil Rattler and Usual Lamb on me this morning.White owl and....?
Thank you, Jeremy.Looks great, John
But it's GEC... So they automatically get a "pass'... They can do no wrong. That's annoying, but they're not the only cutler to release a knife like that, the first GEC #15s had similar issues
Not with that one, I don't think, filing the kick on the Pen would have dropped the nick into the frame. I sent it back, but even then, there was no chance of getting a replacement from GEC. A kind former member sent me one over. Still had the same issue, but not as bad, so I put a balsa shim under the kick of the Spear, leaves the tip slightly proud, but made a great-looking knife useable at leastI never knew. Would there be anything one can do about that? Except for sending it back.
At the time, I think the story was that, if you grew your finger-nails, you might be able to reach in, vertically, and 'pick' the main blade open! But it's GEC... So they automatically get a "pass'... They can do no wrong.![]()
Or use the small screwdriver on your SAK!At the time, I think the story was that, if you grew your finger-nails, you might be able to reach in, vertically, and 'pick' the main blade open!![]()
