I have some old catalogs that call that pattern a slim Trapper and others that call it a Serpentine Jack.
I think the Serpentine Jack might have evolved over time into being called a slim Trapper. 🤔
Maybe calling it either one you like or even Trapper Jack is appropriate. 😇
Well, I sure hope SteveC SteveC didn’t think I was correcting him, or being pedantic.
It was supposed to be a subtle joke and reference to my post the other day about how the old Schrade catalogs called every knife on that frame Serp Jack. But I guess I posted that in a different thread, so my bad.

Voos jack and GEC 35, resting on splits of the invasive European Buckthorn that Jeff mentioned earlier. ;)
The Voos is one of two nice vintage knives gifted to me out of the blue by one of our finest porch members. Many thanks, Paul.:thumbsup:

That’s a fine knife. More than fine... bet you’ll like it.
So buckthorn makes an ok bow? I know it works in the fireplace, as long as one keeps the screen cliosed. It snaps and pops a lot.

It's a great knife, used this morning to cut a bunch of plastic sheathing.
Yes buckthorn is a pretty decent bow, provided you can find a reasonably straight and clean section long enough. Even with knots, warts and various other defects tat are common to buckthorn a bow can be made if one works the wood slowly and carefully. A large dose of luck is also helpful too. :) I made this one about 10 yrs ago, I don't shoot it much but fortunately it hasn't exploded yet.

Pretty useful pair, Harry. If I remember right, the 2019 was a gift from Ron...
By happenstance, I also have one of his on me today.
I carried my Eureka jack again today. Pictured with another one of my Grandpa’s old reels (and rod).

Today it’s the ol’ 89 Wenger Soldat
Great Wenger, and you’ve made me hungry.
John, I’ve been a die hard Packers fan forever but I didn’t watch a single minute of professional football this year. Not even the Super Bowl. I’d had enough of players antics so I pit my focus elsewhere. That being said, my co-workers are losing their minds over the Seahawks right now…is it a bit sick to say I like it?🤪
Me too, Jim.

It's Hempwood hump day here at the hacienda.
Hempwood~ something new I learned today!
Is it burl? Crazy grain.
A little more weight in my pockets than usual today:

You are correct Jeff . Ron knew that I had gifted 2 of the 2019 Forums Knife to my son and a grand son , so he gifted me this one and a Maserin . There are very few knives that I have that are a better User than the 2019 Forums Knife IMHO and the Early 2015 Northfield 77 Barlow Old Red is about the best of the 50 or so Barlows that I have .
