It's my understanding that Hempwood is a wood substitute made of compressed hemp fibers with a glue binding. I haven't gotten the slightest buzz yet, though. According to my Google-fu, the common application is for flooring.Hempwood~ something new I learned today!
Is it burl? Crazy grain.![]()

Well, I sure hopeSteveC didn’t think I was correcting him, or being pedantic.
It was supposed to be a subtle joke and reference to my post the other day about how the old Schrade catalogs called every knife on that frame Serp Jack. But I guess I posted that in a different thread, so my bad.
That’s a fine knife. More than fine... bet you’ll like it.
So buckthorn makes an ok bow? I know it works in the fireplace, as long as one keeps the screen cliosed. It snaps and pops a lot.
You sure have some beauties in the Serpentine Jack pattern, Steve!![]()
Thanks. I’ll check it out. It looks better than the overhand knots I’ve been doing. It's a snake knot. Actually 3 snake knots. I'm sure there are other names for it, but if you search snake knot there are many references.
Very nice and useful pattern, and is pretty handsome as well !Good mornin’
Nothing exciting regarding backgrounds today, but this number has been in hand since it’s arrival !!
Thank you again Greg @Leslie Tomville for my first split-back GEC….

You’re making it look good Mark.
I know exactly how you feel, been suffering from BRB for weeks now. Your Lambsfoot looks good in black and white.
Newlights. I wonder where they got that from? You just got me to thinking too much Jeff - which can be dangerous !
It is nice to be able to have civil discussions about these knives without anyone being offended.
I see you called my Case Trapper a SJ today !
Some people around here call Crappies (the fish) Newlights.
I suppose" Nice Serpentine Jack" is the new "Nice Charlow" !![]()
