I got mine in late '82 or early 1983. It came in a smart green box with the Mauser logo, and an instruction/warranty booklet. From what I recall, there was no mention of Victorinox at all, other than the tang-stamp, and there was no mention of Victorinox in the catalogue I purchased the knife from (though there was in later editions - example below from 1990). It's been a great pocket knife, and a faithful companion. It was also the first knife I was paid to write aboutI saw one for sale about 10 years ago, and couldn't believe what they can sell for now!
