Two favorites, Case Texas Jack and GEC Farmers Jack. Cleaned my deck today and will stain tomorrow

Thanks Will !!! :) ... Nontron Violin Pocket Knife - Château Poulvère Oak Barrel
As Wine barrels are not typically finished to furniture quality, I'd say the covers on this Nontron are "as-is"
The covers look rough or jigged but are surprisingly smooth in hand with no hot spots or splinters

I can't however recommend this knife. Fit and finish is marginal (by collector standards), with spring gaps and blade was pretty well off center but I've corrected that
Blade rap as well, if snapped closed. Have to always remember to walk the blade closed
I have 2 of these knives and both had / have the same issues. Love the knife though, in spite
Would be interested in taking a look, one of these days maybe, at some German knives I've seen in similar pattern
Thanks for the overview Jim. Some French knives are a bit 'rustic' or approxomatif in finish but are still strong willing workers. Others set a very high bar, maybe the highest, in standards of aesthetics & finish that will satisfy the most exacting collector- as we know

Less choice amongst the Teutons but in general they make a satisfying knife. Böker I used to like a lot when they were easy to get and very affordable, now they've become much more costly , but I have a few very decent knives of theirs which were then excellent value. Here's a recent buy from Otter Meßer, available in stainless or carbon, good finish and construction, blade rather narrow though .

Thanks, Will

My phone is my main camera and the primary way I access the Forum. It died over the weekend and took me until today to get a new one up and running. So, I’ve been out of commission for a few days. Still carrying my Eureka.

Glad to see you back, Bart. That EJ looks as good as ever.

Twasn't me. 😁
I keep saying I'm done too, but I manage to pick a couple up here and there... but I'm done now. ;)
Of course you are, John. Of course. ;)
I am 99.999% sure that you stop about once every five minutes to pull these out and smile, Dwight.

Me too. It’s my only device.
The old Macbook has not had any support or updates from the Planned Obsolecense folks at Apple, neither has the even older desktop. For several years the only thing I used it for was my taxes, but the tax software folks, who are in league with the Planned Obsolecence folks, made it so my relic can’t run their software.
My wife and daughter, that’s a different story. They have devices from this century.

We have tv and internet access via satellite dishes on the roof, and they are lousy and expensive, so, just this week we decided to get rid of both and get a cellular based account. The modem should be here in a day or two, and I’ll install it. If I am no longer posting my knives here, you”ll know what happened.
