What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

The deck looks great, and it looks like your friends want to come out and test the finish. 🤠

What year was that 77 made ? Love the single clip !!! 😲
Wish I had a Radio Jack. 🤔🤔🤔🤣
I love the 77's, but, often think that the NS bolsters are a downgrade. I know the thinking up in Titusville that the Northfields are the premium knives, but, I would be hot on a batch with steel bolsters. Anyone else agree with me or am I in the minority ? 🤔🤔🤔

Well the bayou video was a good watch Brother Jim - all of the bayou trapper owners with the gator shield need to watch that one.😊

Thanks !!! \ long story I won't get into, but I have a ton of respect for those bayous and the folks that live and work there. This purchase was a no brainer for me :)
EDIT: Short of it. Just over 40yrs ago, homeless, dead broke, living in a tent on the Atchafalaya Basin and a Cajun and his wife (Joe called himself a coonass) that had my back
and helped me pull myself up by my bootstraps and turn my life around.

Glad to see you back, Bart. That EJ looks as good as ever.
Thanks, Jeremy. I know it was only a few days but if felt kinda weird to be away.
I just figured you were off on another adventure... Good to have you back and congrats on the new phone. 🤠
Thanks, John. My only adventures lately are at work. The new phone is nice. Unfortunately I lost some stuff from my old one, but not too much.

I spent the day today at the fair with my daughter and her rabbit she is showing. We had a great time.

I carried this Barlow. Im not sure what the knife policy is at the fair, but if you get there first thing in the morning to feed, there’s no security yet 👍

This just arrived today. AGR Hobo knife in green G10. In this age of hybrid/remote work I have been feeling like a hobo for two years now. At any given day I could be in NYC, at my home in Queens, upstate or anywhere in between. This is the perfect knife for this lifestyle.

I hate plastic utensils. Cutting a steak or a piece of chicken with a plastic knife is a real pain. NYC food cart fare is generally very good but the throw away utensils can barely get through lunch without falling apart. No more of that now. I added a pic of the hobo along side a Case Medium Stockman to give you an idea of its thickness. It is surprisingly not very thick considering it’s basically two knives in one. There is only a tiny and uniform gap where the two sides of this knife click together. There is a lock to keep things solid. When the fork is closed the lock engages. There is no play at all.

AGR calls this a Boxcar Jack btw. Case trademarked the name Hobo Knife. Since hobos back in the Depression rode in empty boxcars fairly often while looking for work, the name fits well.

They really did a nice job with those, didn’t they? Of course, that’s usually the case with the knives they put their name on.

I should say that I may be slightly biased; AG Russell was my local knife shop growing up. I picked up this Boxcar Jack last fall when I was back home for a visit.

Two favorites, Case Texas Jack and GEC Farmers Jack. Cleaned my deck today and will stain tomorrow

That’s a project on my to-do list for this summer, too, Paul. And like you (at least from what it looks like in those photos) I’m not going to bother with the balusters/spindles/whatever you call ‘ems. I did them the last time I stained the deck a couple years ago, and I swear they took at least twice as long as everything else!

That’s a great looking knife, probably one of my favorite #77 Barlows.

I finally broke triple-digits with my post count on the Porch. At that moment, a mysterious 2022 Forum Knife appeared floating before me. I reached out! But it was only a vision. If I'm remembering correctly, that's about 50% the plot of 'Macbeth.'

I've got this Albers jack on me today:

Great photo of a beautiful Albers jack! 😎

Congrats, and thanks for the laugh!🤓

Among the knives I'm carrying this week are a couple of Case chestnut jigged bone CV models that have a lot of sentimental value for me, having come to me from a couple of outstanding members of The Porch who are no longer with us.
Stockman of the Week is a sowbelly stockman, and Chestnut Jigged Bone CV Case Knife of the Week is a Sodbuster Jr.:

Nice pair, GT. I’ve always liked the shadow pattern jigged bone on those Case sodbusters.

Same duo as yesterday while cleaning the deck and used again today staining the deck

Two curious helpers looking on.

Looks great, Paul! Mine will not look that nice when I’m done, mainly because I don’t think my deck has received the level of TLC over the years that yours has, but at least it’ll be refreshed and resealed.

Cool photo! 😎

I had these two in my pocket today, probably stay the same tomorrow, too. The Bull Nose just came in the mail yesterday after being modified for me by Sacto Sacto . The Hartshead has been a fairly regular companion since it made its way from England to Minnesota a couple weeks ago.
