What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Hi All, Greetings from Australia. Firstly, my apology for not posting a photo. I am a proper technology numpty and have not figured out how to do it. I don't really post at all here, but I do follow this thread and very much enjoy seeing what you are all carrying.

I have a question for you about sharpening a scandi grind blade. Do let me know if I ought post this elsewhere. Thanks in advance. I really appreciate your thoughts.

I have a number of Mr H Roselli's fabulous and inexpensive fixed blade scandi grind knives. Until today, I had been sharpening by holding the large primary bevel against a flat (diamond then ceramic) stone. Result has been a serviceable but delicate edge. I have just tried a new approach. First, flat diamond sharpener against the primary bevel for a few passes. Second, elevate the angle and grind a very small 'micro' secondary bevel at the cutting edge. Just sufficient to create a small burr along the length. Third, go to the other side and gently remove the burr. Finally, a few passes of the newly created micro bevel over a leather strop to put a bit of polish on it. I am very pleased with the result - now shaving sharp and, I hope, a more sturdy cutting edge. My 'micro' bevel is just that - hardly visible.

My questions - does this seem sensible to you? Will it cause any longer term issue regarding the profile of the primary bevel? Should I have been doing this along as it does seem to give me a better result?

Regards and thanks very much.

What year was that 77 made ? Love the single clip !!! 😲
Wish I had a Radio Jack. 🤔🤔🤔🤣
I love the 77's, but, often think that the NS bolsters are a downgrade. I know the thinking up in Titusville that the Northfields are the premium knives, but, I would be hot on a batch with steel bolsters. Anyone else agree with me or am I in the minority ? 🤔🤔🤔
That was from 2016. Best lookin clip I have.

SA-WEET !!! 888222 already in a pocket of the jeans I'll pull on Friday morning

I think you got the best of those Dwight 🙂👍
Today I'm toting a couple of thrifty Thursday Hammer Brand-Imperials from the thirties. :)
A couple of cool-looking companions JJ 😎👍
They really did a nice job with those, didn’t they? Of course, that’s usually the case with the knives they put their name on.

I should say that I may be slightly biased; AG Russell was my local knife shop growing up. I picked up this Boxcar Jack last fall when I was back home for a visit.

I'd love to visit the place! 😳😎😁Nice Boxcar Jack my friend 🙂👍
I had these two in my pocket today, probably stay the same tomorrow, too. The Bull Nose just came in the mail yesterday after being modified for me by @Sacto. The Hartshead has been a fairly regular companion since it made its way from England to Minnesota a couple weeks ago.

Hi All, Greetings from Australia.
Greeting from the other side of the world.
His eyes seem to be saying, "I'm not a meat rabbit, not a meat rabbit." 🤣
The fairs are always so much fun for the Ag kids. Hope your daughter had a great time.
I've eyeballed those so many times, they are really super cool.
I'll have to get one some day and take it to our big family dinners.
They already laugh that I use my pocket knife to cut my steak, that Hobo would be over the top fun.
What a great knife. Hope you enjoy yours as much as i do mine. 🤠
I don't think you could beat that pairing if you tried. 🤠:thumbsup::thumbsup:
