This one and Christians ...deserve a repeat. I love that OVB!!!

I like it but the main blade has precious little snap left, and a bit of wiggle to it. I was hoping to carry it, but it is not meant to be.

Glenbad to the rescue!! I wound like a few that I have rescued as well, namely these two....

I've mentioned my older Buck Stockman before but didn't have a photo to post:

I've been carrying the modern and traditional pair for a while.

Sarah, thanks for the props. My single clip ebony was so perfect I didn't want to carry it. This antique bone is nearly as good, but not quite, and the knife just begs to be used. I touched up the edge with a 1200 grit diamond steel, then stropped with paper, and the edge is fabulous.

This baby is gonna cut stuff!

You're welcome! The Antique Amber is hard to capture accurately, and you did a great job. Mine (also) hints at green in most lighting in a way I haven't been able to convey photographically.

Oh, I get that. To quote an old southerner I know (who uses this as a compliment when he beholds a particularly beautiful specimen of nature):

"That's so purty it looks fake."

Thus, the gabon ebony.

This antique bone is nearly as good, but not quite, and the knife just begs to be used.

That's what I love about it. I thought it was, let's see, "ugly" when I first saw pictures of it (ssshhhhhh), but I found it compelling from the first, and the more I looked the more it drew me in. I'm glad I went for it, because it's not just my favorite of the bone covers in this run of barlows (the ebony being in a class by itself), it's instantly become one of my favorite knives of all. So immediately accessible.

("It has a great personality." ;))

Sounds like a plan. :)

This gift from Duncan was perfect IMO, but Duncan gave me the idea to clean it up a little so I made a few touch ups. There was a crack in the acrylic and the shorter end would shift, so I cleaned out the crack and filled it with hardening cement. I had to clean up a little so a refinished the handles, shield and bolsters with crocus cloth finished with a light buff. The knife is a mirror and you can actually see all the way through the acrylic to the brass liners, one of which is cracked half way by the main spring pin (you can see in the image). I managed to straighten that area out and get everything nice and flush. I did not touch the blades. I felt a little bad taking some character away, but it was under the allowance of Duncan :)

Took the pic before I wiped all the excesse buffing compound off.

Sorry about the crappy phone pics, its already dark here. This thing fits my hand like a glove in either direction, to say I am pleased would be an understatement :D

Haha! Thanks Dennis! No, really thank you for the kind words Paul. I did not want to touch it but the handle was shifting and I didn't want it to crack at the one pin. Now it's tight and stronger I think :)
