What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Today I'm trying my hand at more heavy carving than my caricatures,
Axe, frost mota hook knife, Scandi self made knife and the little GEC#25 helping.

The wood has some faults but It's not bad being my first spoon, and overall is great fun.

Jeff, not sure if you have yet or not but could you tell me about the handle materials of that beauty. I have not seen anything like those and think they are unique and look great, especially the "shield."

For me on this sunny saturday

Gevonovich, your collection of great old knives is most excellent my friend. From the ebony mustache knife to all these gorgeous old bone handled beauties, most enjoyable to gaze upon

Turk, first off great pic! I really like the Case trapper

The Oeser is mostly ebony wood with canvas micarta. The shield and accent are orange G-10 and the blade steel is O1. Search for Jared Oeser and lots more pics in his thread. I will update in that one in a few days after I get to know it a little better.

Peter, for some reason I need your mailing address, it came to me in an impromptu dream I just had, weird?????? :D lol Think you will have better luck having Jared make you your own

Thank you, Jeff! I really appreciate your kind words. I still can't get your newest beauty out of my mind. That Eureka Moose is sooooooo fine!! I could gaze at it all day.

Making firewood and working on my house the whole day today... this beautiful fellow was with me...

Thanks Jeff!

It pinches open easy but I can't catch the butt on my jeans and one hand open it. The blade goes to the very butt of the knife.

I think this is what you meant?

I would be interested to know how many of us view our favorite site like this? Maybe a new thread is in order lol

Yes sir, maybe with a little practice or when the spring loosens more from use. I was thinking of my 99 when I posted that and while your Fruitport is not a lockback(making the spring tension less) the hollow nail nick just looks easy to bury the side of your finger in to flick it open lol. I got to many knives on the brain :playful:

Haha, tight spring on this one but the cutout is awesome. Trying to do it the sharp tip cuts my jeans.

Well, I'm about as happy as a kid with a new pocket knife. Oh wait...

It's got a walloping thick piece of D2. The tang is thicker than the tang of my Benchmade 710. But the edge is still pretty thin. I measured it at 0.26" just above the edge bevel.

Hoping to get out and work with it yet this weekend.
