A couple of Oldies today

Taylors Eye Witness LF and a Keen Kutter Cattle

Great old KK and TEW, Steve!
Seems like you’re showing a new LF every day!🤙
How did the breakfast turnout? Beautiful old timer
Thanks, my friend. The food was well received. This is mostly an older group of guys, and I am slightly amused and slightly amazed how this generation of men (Boomers) got to that age without learning how to cook. What happens in the kitchen is some mysterious kind of black magic and sorcery to these folks, and you can tell that a lot of them are accustomed to being waited on 🙄. Obviously, their wives have sheltered and insulated them from the real world.
There was one old guy, though, Ken, who was a USN vet. THAT guy knew his way around a kitchen, and always pitched right in and helped. RIP, Ken.

The same two usual suspects pitched in and ran several loads through the Hobart dishwasher for me, God love ‘em…😁

Two Schrades for me. The Barlow was a very kind gift from Old Engineer Old Engineer this past spring. It’s my one and only Schrade Cut Co knife, so I guess it’s my oldest Schrade.
And the serpentine jack…
I often say this to myself, and then back off from it, but this time it may be true. I think I’ll just keep totin these two for a while.

I have my Victorinox Alox 7 Harvester in my left hand pocket also, in case stainless is more appropriate.003C0504-80DF-4ACD-B2E2-D0BC82D6392D.jpeg No matter what might be in my right hand pocket, there’s always a Swiss Army Knife in my left pocket, and a Leatherman on my belt.

No, I am not a member of any garden club. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. I just liked the slogan on the back, so I swiped it from the kitchen of the church we used to go to where they had dozens of coffee cups that nobody wanted and gave to the church.
I think it was a leftover from a rummage sale.😜
Like any coffee mug worth keeping, it’s got an unglazed rim on the bottom, which is about as effective a knife sharpener as anything at any price. And it’s perfect for a hawkbill that you cannot sharpen on a flat stone.984EA608-7413-431C-855E-E837A61E1701.jpeg
Have a fine day my friends!

I harvested my first carolina reaper this morning 🔥

I’d probably be wearing a rubber glove.
Besides VERY CAREFULLY, how do you like to eat the really hot ones?
Since we're not supposed to wear white after Labour Day ;)

How about white socks? I hope that’s ok, because it’s so easy to find matching pairs.
Lovely Spring Street Barlow there.

I figured a Case tin was very appropriate. 🤠
:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Oooo, that stag canoe is very nice Gary.
😎👍
Lovely Stag on that one Gary !
Thanks, Todd & Steve. :)
I feel very fortunate to have found that knife on the website of some vendor I never heard of (but located in Idaho, so maybe they had special access to Buck knives). I was so impressed with the knife once it arrived that I immediately returned to the website to purchase at least one more, and they were out of stock by that time - I may have bought the last one they had!

I have an amber bone Sodbuster Jr, but mine is stainless. Your carbon steel version is VERY desirable!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Nice! … and what are the odds? …
This arrived yesterday … my first ever Sodbuster …

Simple, straightforward, and something very “solid” about it …
I’m really likin it!
😁
Congrats on the superb bonestag SBJr!:cool::thumbsup: I really should get a bonestag Case, but I'm kind of picky, and the examples I've seen vary quite a bit. Some of them are grand, and others don't excite me at all. I think I'm gonna have to find a way to buy one in person.

Attractive pair of knives, Steve!:cool::thumbsup:

Slept in this morning. Hey!! I"m old and entitled to sleep in after an exhausting 5-mile trip to town and a return 5-mile trip home yesterday. Anyway, today's carry is more of a desk carry so far as I'm at my desk catching up on this thread. Besides I haven't got my pants on yet. This Tribal Lock Lumberjack will do for the day.

When you're not wearing pants, do you have an ankle sheath for that Tribal Lock? It's a beauty!:cool::cool:

I started out with the friendly (and cheap) Buck 284. I wonder a little bit why I need anything else 🤔

Carried it while I watched these guys pull my well pump

One new pump/control box/pressure switch later we have water! Glorious water! View attachment 1918819
It appears that the pump was installed in 1979. 43 years! I doubt the new one will last that long. One thing I learned is that I don't want to be a pioneer 😃 A shower never felt so good 💧💦
Got done in time to make my regular Friday pool game. Took my Albers with me.

Glad you got your water flowing again, Mike!:thumbsup::cool:
We have "city water", which you'd think should be trouble-free (we don't need no stinking pump ;)), but in June 2020 we completely lost water pressure in our house when the lead line from the main in the street to our house broke on both sides of the "curb stop" where water service to our house could be shut off. The line (and the water meter that filled with sand) had to be replaced, but fortunately the city paid for it as part of an ongoing "lead abatement" program for the water system. While they worked on our "feeder line", they just hooked up a garden hose from an outside spigot on the neighbor's house to an outdoor spigot on our house, and we were good to go for the duration!

As you would expect of me I put Sudsy to use today.
Popped my first cap and found another use for the blade tip, opening nuts 🤣

I am now in Portugal.

Thanks for sharing photos of your trip with us!:thumbsup::cool:
The one I included in this quote doesn't even look real to me; it's like something from a movie! o_O:cool::thumbsup:

Interesting to see these WIP shots of that slip, John!:thumbsup::thumbsup: You say it's to show us how easy it is, but for me, it's like the old saying, "A picture is worth a thousand questions!"

Carrying this Joker with bubinga today. Still impressed with the thin slicey blade and with how comfortable the handle is. 40 degrees on the Sharpmaker immediately established a clean edge all the way to the tip, so it came well-ground.

That Joker is a champ!:cool::thumbsup:

Toting these two KKs in black composite today. :)
JJ those KKs are MMMM!:cool::thumbsup:

TC Barlow for me today.

Nice TC, Bart!:cool::cool: What kind of machinery is it sitting on?

Wishing everyone a fantastic weekend, particularly my pals in the USA - enjoy Labor Day weekend, and work on your spelling! :p🤣;)

I received a package from @Reaper AL yesterday, and thought this Marrow Bone H10 would pair nicely with my twin stag folders :)

Terrific trio, Jack; congrats on the new fixed blade!:thumbsup::cool:
I think it might be too late in my life to work on my spelling skills, trying to include spurious "U"s. (Although spurious ewes sounds like a job for Guardians of the Lambsfoot. 🤓)

Not sure what’s going on today, the weather is likely to change some plans, but I’m starting with these two.View attachment 1919317View attachment 1919318
Todd, I aspire to being able to put an edge on a blade someday like you have on your polished stag lambsfoot!:thumbsup::cool:

5K Qs 5K Qs , @r8shell , beautiful scrimshaw work on that canoe. It is evocative of a more pleasant place and time. I believe it epitomizes the reason we like collecting knives. Thanks for sharing it.
Amazing knife, Greg👍
Classic Bart. How are the improvements to your ramp working out?
It turned out great. I officially finished yesterday when I painted it. Now there’s enough room for chairs and the patio umbrella up there. Here it is with the SAK I’m carrying this morning.

Thanks Gary. There is a city water line across the road. I've always called it "city water" and I recall my Grandma in Tennessee referring to it as "city water" when it became available to her, but here in Missouri, folks call it "rural water". Missourians are kind of wierd 🤪

I thought about hooking up, but it was going to be 2 to 3 weeks minimum. As far as I know I have good well water.* Tastes good anyway and doesn't discolor the laundry, although the toilet bowl is rust stained. Lots of lime in it. Most folks use a softener, bit I've eschewed using one thus far. The real decider was speed. Once I called the well people, they were out the next day and the problem was solved.

*I worked in the environmental field for 28 years. Once, when heading out to the field, I stopped by my house to pick up some boots. One of the guys I was with asked if I ever had the water in my well checked. He was somewhat flummoxed when I said, "No. Why would I do that? I like my water. If I had it tested, I might not like it anymore." He had trouble with the logic 😃

Hi buddy
I will make chili con carne & hot sauces with them. I also have a plant of chocolate ghost, lemon starrburst, blazing banana, cayenne slim & long horn hot peppers.
